Re The Unexplained Below Normal 3% Unemployment Numbers

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 9:32 on June 8, 2018

Ask yourself, “Why the hell are they going hammers to hell now, to restore the US Economy? Because it was effin UNRESTORED since 1975 and it went too far.

A very long time ago I made a post about the unemployment. Even if we had ZERO unemployment, if most people are under paid for higher expenses, and barely getting by, and can’t piss away money, its the same as a 10% unemployment rate.

Look at all the empty store fronts. Food stamps. Even the Gov’t is under paid ($20 trillion shortfall) because of low wages. Minimum wage today to copy 1967’s $1.40/hr would require $26/hr today for the same purchasing power. And the average national wages today is $26.90 they said.

I know what you all are thinking. What the business media tells you. We can’t pay a burger flipper $26/hr. Well, yesterday I emptied my mailbox. Everything in it was garbage circulars. I put it all right in with my kitchen garbage, and told Mrs. Copper……

“Do you believe, they just paid a GROWN man about $40-$50/hr with benefits? to deliver GARBAGE to my house. A burger flipper job is a lot harder. BUT, the difference, the mail man is paid by the Gov’t, us, and the burger flipper is paid by a private sector business man who doesn’t want to pay you anything. If for example most people were OVER paid, and combined with an unemployment rate of 10%, the “economy” would not “notice” it

Now the funny part. We all hate Nancy Pelosi, but look what she said…..

Parts of story:

The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index rose 2.4 points in May, reaching 128 — for the highest reading in more than 17 years, (me now, only 2001, what was it 1960 1000?) she claimed low unemployment numbers reported earlier “mean little” to the American people.

People say, ‘Oh my goodness, … people are saying the unemployment rate is down, why isn’t my purchasing power increasing?” Pelosi said. “So, this isn’t just about the unemployment rate, it’s about wages rising in our country, so that consumer confidence is restored.”

Austria to shut down mosques, expel foreign-funded imams

VIENNA (Reuters) – Austria’s right-wing government plans to shut seven mosques and could expel dozens of imams in what it said was “just the beginning” of a push against radical Islam and foreign funding of religious groups that Turkey condemned as racist.

We watch him on TV often. They say their has been a 30% increase in suicide. No surprise to me at all. I remember the 1950s, 60s and part of the ’70s, everybody was happy. Then when they started globalization I knew it was very bad. For paychecks.

I watched it all unfold. What a shame, 43 years so far down hill on entry level private sector wages, that held down most other wages. Finally they unleashed Trump. Anthony may have been having money problems, or he was on antidepressants and suicide is a side effect. Or both. Look at all the school shootings by suicidals’.

Italian rates are still blowing out. 10 yrs are > 3 % at 3.03, the 10 yr spread on Bunds is out another 6 % tdy. Who would lend to Italy at less than 10 % for 10 years…not me for sure.

Meanwhile the Donald is threatening to tell everyone at the G7 to rotate, he is apparently leaving early, so he can miss the climate talks.

So it looks like the globalists are throwing a hissy and letting the SM’s crater…which may or may not be very significant…are the globalists the scum, I think they may well be ?????

lava

Posted by treefrog @ 22:00 on June 7, 2018

it’s my understanding that lava often weathers out into pretty good, fertile  soil because it has a little of everything.  the weathering out isn’t a fast process, it takes half a brazillion years.

About the only thing you can ‘mine’ out of lava is semi-precious OLIVINE crystals… a light green quartz type crystal.  Don’t ask me the chemical reaction, but it’s one of the first things to crystallize out of hot lava under certain cooling conditions.  I’ve seen lots and lots of lava rock with embedded olivine crystals.

Some of the first sailors to ‘discover’ Hawaii at Honolulu Harbor found an old shoreline crater rim full of crystals and thought they were rich!  They named the place “Diamond Head”.  Today it is a landmark next to Waikiki Beach.

For the life of me, and the last 10 years, that is the part I don’t get.  We watch this fail, and that fail, we see Italy teetering, we see the Real going down the dumper and the very next fucking day the sun is out and shining.
My guess it will continue until one day….poof, gone.
Till then keep on keeping on.

“My guess it will continue until one day….poof, gone.”
Yes, on a long enough timeline ….
“How did you go bankrupt?”
Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”
On the one hand, when one has access to unlimited free money, to endlessly speculate, without fear of loss, the sun is always shining, at least above ground.
They may lose sight of the fact that they are also walking dead men.
I believe they’ve learned in 2008-09, that the next go round they’re not getting off quite so easy, and to do whatever needs to be done to avoid, delay that moment.
It ain’t gonna be pretty

The TV technology now blows me away.

Posted by Maya @ 20:04 on June 7, 2018

I spent a career getting ‘Live TV’ out of strange places, usually VIA Satellite.   Now with the tech revolution, my career became obsolete and I was put out to pasture.   Now I watch a local girl reporter go out on a boat, offshore of the lava, and do Live TV from out in the middle of nowhere on the ocean.   They use a backpack computer with broadband modems that connect to local cell sites and digitally hack a HDTV signal back to the station via a several broadband internet connections all knit together.   My communications engineering skills have reverted to a ham radio hobby now.   But I’m happy to have survived this far.

500+ homes… gone.

Courtesy USGS.

The count is up over 500 homes lost now.  A friend sent me a scare story about how FEMA rounded up all these people in a “Mandatory Evacuation”, put them on buses and cattle cars, and is holding them in an undisclosed FEMA pen somewhere here.

PURE BS!  FEMA application for aid was made only yesterday after we surpassed the threshold of 173 homes destroyed.  People fled on their own.  Local county “Mandatory Evacuation” means first responders will NOT be coming to get you and endangering themselves if you get in trouble.  There are some farm residents in the area that live off-grid and chose not to leave, even though they are cut off from land access… but they are not immediately threatened by lava.   Hardy, self-reliant homesteaders.

Lava is molten magma from the earth’s mantle.  It is a rich mix of almost everything.  On the older, ancient islands here it decomposes into a rich, red, clay type of soil much like ‘Georgia Clay’.

Other types of rocks on the continent are classed as ‘metamorphic’ rocks… those which have undergone geologic change due to extreme pressure, or solvent actions of water, or sedimentary… or… well there are lots of different types of rocks.  Most have undergone some kind of metamorphosis in their composition due to external conditions.

Lava is pure mantle ooze… the primordial ‘soup’ that the planet is made of.
