and it takes thirty years to reach us , according to some information posted at one of our local springs … Blue Spring near Orange City FL flows some one hundred million gallons per day into the St. John’s River , at a constant year round temperature of about 72 degrees F. That relatively warm flow attracts about 150 to 200 manatees to the outflow each time we have a cold snap . Otherwise they suffer a form of hypothermia as the St. John’s River and other waterways dip below 60 F.
On the other item …the US dollar , as many of you know my wife is Colombian and I spend a few months here each year . A couple of years after Obama took office , the exchange rate was around 2600 Pesos per dollar . Then it rose again to over 3000 . This morning 2812 , but perturbations take a few days to settle out .
When I was a youngster , the Canadian dollar cost more than the US dollar , then about 20 ? years ago it had dropped so that it took about C$ 1.40 to buy a US dollar .
Around 1962 I worked for a year in Switzerland . You got 4 SF per dollar then , and 4.4 New Francs ( France had done a decimal change from the earlier Franc ). The SF is now worth more than the US dollar , and before the Euro , the French Franc was trading at around 8 per US $.
In short , I can still become a Peso millionaire for under $400 ! Yippeee !
