this is today’s 8:00 am update from noaa. you can’t see it at this scale, but there’s a letter indicating max wind speed in each of the black dots marking the projected location of the storm center. the 2:00 am sunday location – between miami and cuba – is marked “M” meaning above 110 mph (category 2 or higher).
as the storm passes over land, it loses strength.
the 2:00 am monday location – orlando? – is marked “H” meaning between 74 and 110 mph (basic hurricane).
the 2:00 am tuesday location – just south of atlanta – is marked “S” meaning between 39 and 74 mph (tropical storm).
the 2:00 am wednesday location – nashville? – is marked “D” meaning below 39 mph (tropical depression).
farmboy, you can unclench the sphincters, it’s gonna be blustery and rainy starting monday night – but not a killer storm.
caveat: this is friday morning… this noaa projection is just that – a projection of possible future events.
the friday 11:00 am update from noaa shows a “D” at a location just west of atlanta at 08:00 tuesday. “D” indicates tropical depression with max wind speeds less than 39 mph.
