That brought back a great memory from my youth . It was the last year (1954) of the Big Top – the five ring tent  in which the circus acts were performed , and kids could earn a pass to the sideshow tent and the matinee circus performance in the Big Top by helping haul on the ropes to raise the tents ( along with the circus elephants in harness) . I was one of those kids who did so . As I recall we also hauled water by bucket for the circus animals .

After that , the circus was held in arenas and other buildings . It was also around the time that the movie ‘Big Top’ , featuring a performance by the great clown Emmett Kelly hit the theaters , which made it even more exciting .

If any of you reading this get to Sarasota , FL , the Ringling Museum there is well worth a visit . There is also an excellent art gallery on the site .

I must write about that experience in my memoirs to my grandkids .

Re Inflation

Too right, here in the UK smallest note is 5 pounds, not long ago it bought something, but now it won’t even buy 2 drinks in a Pub. They have recently replaced it with a much longer lasting plastic style paper, as they were wearing out so fast.

Coins are now almost useless, apart from change…..and they say inflation is tame…..!!!!!

Maybe you should try this  kind for awhile.

I try to keep my eyes and ears open about PM-related moves in that area.  Unfortunately at present I have no inside track on behind the scene scouting around on properties there, so info. reaching me is apt to be too late to be put to good use.   Remaining on watch.

The big boyz have always been present (not sure how long Pretium will be around)  but I think the 25 year goldrush hiatus is over.

Saw last night that top forcasters say that the Fed Reserve is about to go on rapid Fire with interest rates boosting them in the second half of this year and every quarter of 2018 possibly driving gold down to the 1000 area.

Followed by other news… Go figure.and first maybe be a reaction to the rest. The US central bank is seen raising borrowing costs later this year given the fiscally expansive policies by President Trump and the new Presidents agenda that will help raise wages in 2018 hosting labor costs the bank said in Jan. 25 report. Gold may yet find support in the first half of 2017.

That’s  kinda what I worried about what was down will be up and vise versa. They don’t mention costs including rents and mortgage will be on the sidelines waiting to strip any wage increases and the fed to gold. Looks like they will be battling supposed inflation as well as interest rates putting pressure on home and auto sales after the first half of 2017 that will get worse if it plays out.

Like the proverbial frog that does not notice the rise in water temperature until it’s too late, investors seem to be experiencing a similarly stealthy rise in inflation. Changes in headline inflation measures suggest a gentle firming in prices. However, underneath the surface there is evidence that inflation may continue to rise past the steady 2% nirvana that central banks prefer. Consider the following:

Housing costs are now rising at the fastest pace in nearly a decade.

Housing is a major component of core inflation, i.e. inflation without volatile food and energy prices. The main housing component in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is Owners’ Equivalents Rent (OER). As overall housing costs make up over 40% of core inflation, this is a key metric to watch. Last December OER rose over 3.5% from the previous year, the quickest pace in nearly 10 years (see the accompanying chart).

The futures appear headed to the the 16.580 target shown. I posted this Hidden Pivot support in the chat room Thursday morning, but it was probably of little help to traders because of the downtrend’s rabid demeanor. I am not suggesting bottom-fishing with the usual penny-ante stop-loss, since the target closely coincides with some important lows from mid-January. Our main concern should be whether sellers take out both of those lows without a visually distinctive correction. Were that to occur, I’d infer a test of support is imminent at 16.260, equal to an important low recorded on January 5. Alternatively, I’d need to see a pop on Friday above 17.075 to persuade me that buyers are serious.

Lol your getting creative. That sounds like a good idea on your preparation and since your talking about soft tissue it will be safe although no oil type barriers for preventing too much moisture which might be the culprit.

Keep up your immune system. As we get older why we might not bounce back too well.

Keep in mind stores, shopping carts, public bathrooms, resturants and fast food.. Who are handling ” your food” despite your own precautions.

In the meantime taking one of my daughter out to red lobster for her Bday. Hope I don’t get her sick as currently not practicing what I preach. If epidemic around I would though. Just stay in. For instance yearaago a cook gave a bunch of people hepatitis before he knew he was sick. .
