US Services PMI Tumbles, Misses By Most On Record “Dealing Blow To Q2 Rebound Hopes”

After a brief dead cat bounce, the US services economy has tumbled back to 3-month (near 7 year) lows, missing expectations by the most on record. Shares in Canadian miner Kinross Gold’s (TSX:G) (NYSE:KGC) were plummeting Tuesday as unionized employees at the company’s Tasiast mine in Mauritania began a strike.

At lunchtime, the stock was down almost 9% to Cdn$5.92 in Toronto and was trading 7.6% lower to $4.52 in New York.

Among other issues, Mauritanian miners complain that there is a major gap between their salaries and expats working for Kinross.

“There are 2,600 Mauritanian workers employed by the firm of whom 1,041 are permanent, costing the company $36 million, while there are 130 expatriate employees who cost $43 million,” workers’ spokesman Bounenna Ould Sidi told AFP.

The Toronto-based gold producer said it remained open to re-commencing negotiations on a new collective agreement and to resolve other outstanding items with union representatives.

In March, Kinross announced it was going ahead with the first stage of a two-phase expansion designed to boost gold production and drive down costs at the problem-plagued project.

The Swiss public will have to approve or reject a change in the constitution that would allow for the introduction of an Unconditional Basic Income (UBI), or a preset, monthly minimum income to be paid out by the government to every adult and child in the country if their income falls below a specific threshold. Even though details of this proposal have been few and far between, the most commonly cited amount of this guaranteed income would be 2,500 Swiss Francs for adults and 625 francs for children. The architects of the proposal stress that this government-guaranteed payment, unlike the current benefit programs, will be entirely “no questions asked”, i.e., it will not be means-tested and will apply to every person legally living in Switzerland.

Local bishops show two previous vaccines were laced with sterilizing agents

NAKURU, Kenya (ChurchMilitant.com) – A Catholic nun in Kenya is being arrested for sheltering Catholic students from vaccinations that may cause sterilization.

Sister Cecilia Kamau, headmistress of St. Anthony Academy in Nakuru Kenya, was arrested Monday for refusing to allow 700 students to receive a measles-rubella vaccination shot. Public health officials arrested her following complaints from parents that their children at five Catholic-sponsored schools were not allowed to receive the shots. The nun is being arraigned in court today facing charges of endangering lives of children under her care.

Sister Cecilia’s suspicions regarding the potential health hazards involving vaccination shots is not without precedent. In March of last year, ChurchMilitant.com reported how Kenya bishops have been warning the people that these vaccines are causing sterilization in Kenya as they did in Mexico, Nicaragua and the Philippines.

A joint committee of medical experts, secular and Catholic, found the sterilizing antigen Beta HCG in 33 percent of the Tetanus vaccines used in that immunization campaign.

Good your watching futures. I like to see them but not too worried about it. They are only reactionary after the fact to short term mostly. Gold just slipped past current side ways  pattern support at about 1232 for now. Don’t see anything wrong with shorting because it can speed up the process. With a choppy market they could wind up losing money though. Most aren’t looking at the long term.

They know all the inside information re money flow and markets. They can’t ever lose. And even when they accidently do lose, sub prime loan fiasco, they win it all back later on something else in the futures market.

I smelled a rat after the First Quarter Gold explosion…..March 10 i raised some cash and entered a small short position …In in May I employed the cash back into Silver because it was defying gravity ,but still kept the ETF short position in Gold as Insurence against what appears to be happening…… Mid May should have been the Bottom ..maybe its extending a bit we shall see ! A little insurance until the cloudy weather clears up may be a good thing….SABE DIO !
