Larry Edelson: Your Most Important Questions, Answered!

Posted by silverngold @ 8:36 on March 26, 2016

The questions from readers are pouring in again, so I’m going to devote this week’s column to answering the most important ones. Let’s get started!

Q: Given yesterday’s tragedy in Brussels, where do your war cycles stand?

A: Precisely as forecast, they continue to ramp up big time. This phenomenon is not going away any time soon, not until it crests in 2020 or 2021.

Simply understand this: In times of plenty, everything is fine. But in times of scarcity, the entire social fabric of society can give way.

What plenty or scarcity am I talking about? Not your usual suspects, like food and water, or energy. I’m talking about the lack of trust that is now exploding to the surface all over the world.

Lack of trust in banks. In brokers. In local governments. In religion. In institutions. In law. In the police. In any kind of authority.

Just think it all through. Have you ever seen such a swift collapse in trust and confidence in the world?

Between entire countries and civilizations? Between philosophies? Between economic classes, the rich and the poor? Between entire civilizations?

No, you haven’t. And the main reason it is happening is largely due to the governments of the world and how they have financially repressed their own people for well over a decade now.

With artificially low interest rates. With rising taxes. With prying eyes and cyber-eyes. With crooked politicians and crony capitalism, and more.

Q: Gold stopped dead at the $1,285 level and started falling again, just as you said it would. What’s next for gold?
The war cycles point up all the way into 2021, so fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to get worse. All of it. From ISIS to Boko Haram. From Brussels to Washington. From Wall Street to Main Street. A collapse in trust and an explosion in tension and conflict.

A: No changes. My forecast models take gold lower, back to the $1,180 level, possibly a tad lower, by late May. A solid breakout would only be indicated by a close above roughly $1,302.

Q: Oil sure bottomed as you said it would. Now it looks toppy. Your thoughts?

A: Yes, oil has some pretty stiff resistance at the $40 to $42 level and should now trade sideways for a few weeks, in a trading range between roughly $36 and $41 — before taking off again, up to the $50 level, expected in May/June.

Q:  Some say inflation is starting to come back. Do you agree or disagree?

A: I disagree. I don’t know where they see it. It’s not showing up in any official numbers, nor unofficial stats.

It’s not showing up in commodities, in the credit markets, in interest rates. So I don’t know what they base their forecasts on, other than the fact that Mario Draghi now has the pedal to the metal printing euros.

But as I’ve said all along, printing money by itself is not inflationary.

Q: What are your thoughts on the GOP, Trump, Clinton, etc.?

A: If I told you my thoughts on them, this column couldn’t be published!

All kidding aside though, what you are witnessing is the implosion of Washington. The lack of trust that I discussed earlier. Americans largely do not trust career politicians, or Washington in general, anymore. Hence, why Trump is so popular.

So the nasty politics you are seeing are part and parcel of the times we are in: Times when entire sovereign countries are torn apart, through both civil strife and even international conflict.

Q: Latest on the Dow Industrials? Like you, I see a pullback coming. But then, it never comes. Thoughts?

A: The major indices are caught between two forces right now. In one corner, is the long-term bull, being driven by international capital flows which still largely point to the U.S. from the rest of the world.

In the other corner, is the bear: A list of technical and internal indicators that are mauling away at the stock market, despite the headline numbers in the major indices like the Dow Industrials and the S&P 500. In other words, most publicly traded stocks are already either in a bear market, or pulling back.

The major indices are caught between two forces. Who will win the fight?

Who will win the fight? Long-term, the bull will, and the Dow will soar to 31,000.

But I maintain my view that the markets will likely, even the big name stocks, hit the mat once or twice before the bull really takes control. Worst case for the Dow is still roughly 13,900.

Q: Will oil ever go back above $100?

A: This is one of the most popular questions I get. The number is often different, but everyone now wants to know if oil will ever experience another bull market.

My answer: Yes, it will and indeed, a new bull market has already started. That said, it will not be a rip-roaring bull market in oil, due to what the market has gone through, alternative and hybrid energy advances, the state of the global economy and more.

But I do expect that oil can reach new record highs by late 2020, mostly on the back of geo-political turmoil, rather than demand driven.

Q: The Bank of Canada has sold all of its gold reserves. Do you expect more central bank sales of gold?

A: Yes. I forecast quite a while ago, that central banks would start selling their gold again, and probably at or near the lows. Which is precisely what Canada did.

Central banks don’t care for gold. They don’t want gold. They don’t really earn anything from gold. And they want to get rid of it once and for all and make it a dinosaur of the monetary system.

So don’t be surprised if you see more central bank gold selling. But don’t take it as a bearish sign. Take it as a bullish sign. They almost always sell at the beginning of bull markets (and buy at the beginning of bear markets).

That’s it for now. Stay tuned — my models are showing that this month and next will be pivotal for almost all markets, leading to major trends unfolding and a slew of new profit opportunities.

Best wishes,

Larry

FWIW: Media Manipulation: More Fake Video Reports of the Brussels Terror Attacks

One of the first videos published by Belgium’s mainstream media, was, according to reports, from the  CC security surveillance cameras at Brussels airport. The video report was released at 9.07am, one hour after the first bomb attack at the airport.

The video was fake. What Derniere Heure and La Libre published was footage from a January 2011 terror attack at Moscow International airport.

But what makes this even more ridiculous is that besides just stealing your money. Now they are going to give you a worthless piece of paper for it. As though that makes it all better. I long ago removed all my money and brokerage account from the banks. I deal with a credit union. I don’t know how much safer it is, but at least they are not allowed to gamble with your money like the banks do.

Obama: ‘There’s Little Difference Between Communism and Capitalism’

President Obama has stoked controversy after he suggested to an audience of Argentinian youth that there was no great difference between communism and capitalism and that they should just “choose from what works”.

That legislation is being imposed all over the West, it started in Cyprus when they had their banking crisis and they “stole” a load of Russian deposits, under so called “bail in” legislation. Subsequently it is being enacted all over the West…we already have it in the UK.

Supposedly it is to protect taxpayers…yes…… please stop laughing..

By the way do u know that legally once u deposit money in a bank, it is the banks not yrs……check it out…a dirty secret that they ain’t too keen on advertising.

That means that if a bank starts to go wobbly in Canada, and you have money deposited in that bank, the bank can take your money to bail itself out.

When you have your life savings, or your kids college fund, or even last week’s paycheque in the bank that you need to pay your rent, you are technically a creditor of the bank. As in, they owe you that money.

But this Liberal proposal says that if the bank has trouble, they can just take your cash, and give you shares in the worthless bank instead.

I’ve still got bruises from this one. Lesson learned: Never build a mine without first doing a feasibility study!

Peter Ticktin
VOTE AS YOU WISH, AND LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT TRUMP – – A personal note from Peter Ticktin who knows the guy from high school:
As a law firm, we at The Ticktin Law Group do not like to get involved in politics. As soon as we endorse one side, we risk alienating everyone on the other side. Also, our lawyers and staff are, themselves, on both sides. Politics is not our game. However, Justice is!
If you saw a guy get publicly smeared, and you knew him well from the days you were friends and seniors together in high school, if you knew him to be a decent and honest man, would you want to say something? This is why I need to share what I know.
I was aghast at watching last night’s debate. It was a set-up. The moderators, Cruz, and Rubio were all like little alligators trying to take a bite out of Trump. Yes, Donald Trump has had some failures, but he has been exceedingly successful. None of this came out. Instead, there was a general attack. Rubio simply makes up lies. He pretends that Trump has small hands and makes fun of him for something which isn’t even real. He pretends that Donald wets his pants, and makes fun of him, as though it was true, and then he calls Donald Trump a “Bully.”
I am not suggesting that you should vote or not vote for anyone. I just need to defend a former friend who is being smeared.
Like Donald Trump, I attended New York Military Academy (“NYMA”) for high school. In fact, in our senior year, together, Donald was my captain, and I was his 1st Platoon Sergeant. I sometimes joke that I ran his first company for him, Company “A.”
People don’t really change much from the ages of 17 and 18, and I know this guy. I know him to be a good decent guy. We lived and breathed an Honor Code in those years. It wasn’t just a rule. It was our way of life. Neither Donald, nor any other cadet who graduated with us would ever lie, cheat, or steal from a fellow cadet. These values became irreversibly intertwined in the fabric of our personalities, of who we are.
Of the 99 guys (no girls in those days) in our class, there is not one who I know who has a bad word to say about Donald Trump. Think of it. With all the jealousies which arise in high school and thereafter, with all the potential envy, not one of us has anything other than positive memories of this man. How could we? He was an “A” student, a top athlete, and as a leader, he was highly respected. We never feared him, yet we never wanted to disappoint him. He had our respect. He was never a bigot in any way, shape or form. He only hates those who hate. Of course he denounces the KKK.
As to the discussion with the New York Times, it is his choice to release the ‘off the record’ remarks. However, if he does, it opens the door for all political opposition to make that demand for everyone, and that means that our press will never get those ‘off the record’ remarks which help them to understand the realities of the campaign. Moreover, the idea that Donald Trump confessed some alternate theory of his position is preposterous. Can anyone believe that all those NY Times reporters are walking around knowing some deep dark nasty secret about a guy who is seeking an endorsement?
The Republican establishment is afraid of Donald Trump. Why? They are afraid that he will lose to Hillary. They don’t hate Donald. They hate her. They are so fearful that they fail to see that by expanding the base of voters for Trump, he is more likely to win.
Watching the chorus of whiners, decriers, denigrators, and self-righteous put-down experts from so many directions, from Mitt Romney, to Megyn Kelly, Little Mario, it has to make you wonder. Why? Why are so many people so angry with Donald Trump, that they are lying, name calling, ridiculing, and demeaning him as they do. Either they are afraid, or they know him to be evil.
This is why I feel the need to speak out at this time. I know this man. He is a lot of things, but he is not evil. He is a decent honest guy who loves this country, and who is willing to sacrifice so much of what is left of his life, because he knows that this country needs to be fixed, and that it is going to require someone who can do the job. He just doesn’t see anything around him other than political hacks, so he is willing to take this huge responsibility.
I’m not saying that he is the only one who can do the job. My point is simply as to his motivation and his goodness.
This next decade is going to be one of major changes. We all see the climate changing, and the world food supply is getting lower. Our fish stock around the world is running low. Oil prices will cause countries to fail. The Middle East is beyond repair, and we have become weak and ineffective around the world. Donald Trump sees the issues and knows that he can assemble leaders who would have the best chance of fixing things. This is why he is running. He does not need it for his own aggrandizement. He doesn’t need another big jet or to take up residence in the White House. He just wants things to be fixed, and he knows that the politicians won’t fix anything.
I knew Donald Trump and was close to him in our senior year in high school. I just want you to know that there is nothing to fear from him. His character is as good as it gets. He is a patriot, taking on a heroic task, and being thanked by massive abuse.
If you want to see a true reflection of a man, look at his children. Need I say more?
