China’s ambitious Mt. Everest tunnel is unsettling India
China’s chasing other projects besides a new Silk Road economic belt that spans Central Asia and Europe. But one proposed endeavor might raise the ire of China’s neighbor – India.
India’s Economic Times reported Thursday that China plans to build a 540-kilometre strategic high-speed rail link between Tibet and Nepal passing through a tunnel under Mt. Everest. The Times says the move “could raise alarm in India about the Communist giant’s growing influence in its neighborhood.”
Beijing’s state-run China Daily Thursday quoted Wang Mengshu, an expert at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as saying the project is rumbling ahead despite expected engineering hurdles.
“A proposed extension of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to the China-Nepal border through Tibet would boost bilateral trade and tourism as there is currently no rail line linking the two countries,” China Daily said.
Details of the Mt. Everest project are sketchy. It’s expected to be completed by 2020. But there are no cost estimates.

Truth about the scam called an Art V Convention or Liberty Amendments. No honest person who knows our history, Constitution or process of the states would promote such actions. First- both mean the same thing but the latter is a personal brand name given by one con man pursuing his own legacy. 1. The very idea of an Art V helping us now is based upon the ludicrous assumption that officials who ignore our existing Constitution will care to follow a few new parts. 2.We need fast repairs to stop our national decline. The last amendment added took 200 yrs to get passed. That won’t do. Fifty years will not do. 3. Supporters say “It took 100 yrs to get here it will take 100 to fix!” That is unpatriotic and irresponsible to kick our mistakes to future generations so we can avoid facing the consequences of our own failures. 4. State legislatures will pass these amendments in such numbers the feds will be forced to accept them..this is absurd. These same states already fail to enforce the 10th Amendment powers they ALREADY possess. That demonstrates they cannot be trusted to have 38 of them unite for even tougher work. 5. Supporters tell us an Art V is THE ONLY process permitted by our Constitution to rein in a rogue federal gov’t. This is a blatant lie. An Art V is the only way for states to force amendments. No part.of our Constitution describes this as an antidote for rogue feds or as our only solution. 6. The people acting as driving forces of the Art V farce are all either lawyers, lobbyists or party activists. They serve their own agenda by using the Art V distraction to difuse and redirect anger energies which would otherwise be focused on the parties and career political crooks who created our troubles. 7. An Art V protects the established spiderweb of cronies, donors, lobbyists and backroom shadow dealers we all say we want to put out of business. 8. Understand how statehouses work because 38 must pass each amendment containing THE SAME DETAILS & LANGUAGE. Elected reps do not write the bills they pass. They propose an idea and lawyers write.it then off to committees where more lawyers and ALL the lobbyists jump in for their slice of the action. This is where HUGE amounts of cronyism and dirty money goes to work. Then the trades, favors & deals are made to secure votes for passage. If you are a party insider, crony, lawyer or lobbyist an Art V Convention is the ultimate playground with a golden lining. It creates a nationwide feeding frenzy for all of them which they can milk for decades as the corruption completes our decline. Who is crazy enough to unite with the thieves and con artists that would lie and spin to promote such a plan when we all know those we can trust the least would be in line to become wealthy from it?
