$33 for Silver

Seems to be the Maginot Line….

Are there derivatives that will self-destruct if Silver stays above $33/oz. for a certain amount of time??

I feel the same way ( about being inclined to buy the dips), as we’ve been “fighting the good fight” for far too many years now, and have been conditioned to react certain ways.

Morning deer79

Posted by Buygold @ 6:42 on May 7, 2025

So true, isn’t it?

I’m feeling led to buy any decent dip we might get in the shares today. Am I delusional?

Is the recent strength all an illusion?

Silver is the only thing that gives me pause at the moment.

Not sure what the smackdown

Posted by Buygold @ 3:12 on May 7, 2025

overnight is about, but it already seems to be subsiding some. Still down $40, but more curious about silver, only down $.15.

I guess it could be some reaction to the India/Pakistan situation, because for the longest time gold has been smacked at the mere mention of war. I don’t know, from what I’ve read, the Indian response was meant to be non-retaliatory. I guess we’ll see if Pakistan views it that way.

I’m wondering if this is the scum taking the opportunity of a little weakness at a less liquid time in the overnight markets, just to let some air out in front of what should be a more dovish stance from the Fed. It wouldn’t surprise me if we make back these losses by the close today. Course, I guess it wouldn’t surprise me if it got worse too. ??

Regardless, despite appearances, we ain’t done just yet IMHO, but might even be starting a quick leg up toward $4K.

Please don’t tell me that Gold has sold off because of the China talks, while India is lobbing missiles into paki land…….

I found it. He names company’s working on the infrastructure.

In the US we need domestic infrastructure, roads, bridges, places that were damaged by weather events as far back at the NY hurricane.

They put the kabash on that AH buying

Posted by Buygold @ 18:57 on May 6, 2025

Somebody decided they didn’t want to be in too big a hole tonight.

Volume in the shares was good -above average across the board. We’ll have to get through tomorrow, but I think the switched flipped today in the shares. That might be the first time I’ve seen everything being bought since this whole thing started.

ferret – I agree. 4.5% is the line in the sand. Above that and the SM has problems.

So I guess you think China is going into the dumpster tariffs or not, and if China has a recession then they won’t be buying so much from their Aussie friends.

Hey … some of those Potemkin cities are nice looking, just don’t look too close …

Ferrett

Posted by goldielocks @ 18:52 on May 6, 2025

Good points and yeah I’m not big in bonds/ treasures knowledge other than a slowdown safe haven so why are they doing that? Do they expect more buying in the future and where are they going to park that money? Copper could still be in demand, I don’t know about how immediate for energy and AI products especially where there’s places planning on manufacturing their own products including  energy and uranium they consider rare earths apparently to support AI demands. If I can find a video I’ll post it because they include Canadian, American and Australian countries. Maybe more for the youth it invest for buying low for the future.

ipso 11:51, I don’t think tariffs matter for Oz.

Posted by ferrett @ 17:51 on May 6, 2025

All the fake GDP growth in China has been supported by Potemkin projects, all the steel, copper and concrete that goes into ghost cities, and the railways, roads and bridges to nowhere. With a declining population, and a high youth unemployment, there will be no demand for coal, iron ore and bauxite. Our dollar dropped below USD0.60 recently, and while it has bounced to above 0.65 yesterday, I still expect it to go below 0.50.

Buygold, yeah right mate. Dump treasuries, sure, but what are they gonna buy? Eh? Haven’t thought of that, have you? Nothing as good as good ol’ US Treasuries, no sirree! Gold? Who’d buy that stuff? People who sell USTs; HA, idiots. Wait …. WHAT!!

Seriously, the adage that you can’t manipulate the bond market is mostly true, but we know that they have spiced treasury auctions in the past. So I don’t trust one-off stunning results like in the 10s today especially after rates had been creeping up for the previous three days. 4.5% seems to be the line in the sand. Creep up, up, up: dump. Rinse and repeat. One day the filter will block.

Gold continuing to soar AH

Posted by Buygold @ 17:08 on May 6, 2025

Up $99 at the moment. Makes me wonder if we’re not going to take another run at $3500 tonight.

The Fed will need to reload the Crimex to reverse it.

Hey Goldie

Posted by Buygold @ 17:06 on May 6, 2025

Yes. Was CNC back then too. We had a couple of programmers that converted the mechanical drawings into flat pattern programs for the machines to punch the various cutouts. They have a slew of different machines, lasers, water jets, etc. The punch presses were faster for the kind of work we did. We had six punch presses, very loud and shook the floor. Really great business back then.

I think it’s worth watching. The reaction to the earnings was a big over-reaction IMHO.

I don’t think it will take much for it to get back over $6

This was an exceptional day. These shares have acted much better the last couple afternoons. The volume looks good on a cursory glance, and the smaller shares sort of ruled the day. We might look back on today as being the real kickoff to the bull market in the shares.

Still have to get through tomorrow’s Fed meeting where anything goes, but I think some real buying came in today. We will see.

That’s great your son is taking the initiative to travel, learn, building a resume with some experience. Kinda funny I had opportunities to study in Europe plus Mexico near the Amazon which I was really interested in to find the medicine men and learn what plants they used and they come here. Now one of my grandsons had a opportunity to travel all over Europe to learn the history. He gets lots of offeres for different things. With things going on in Europe and wanting war probably not a good idea.

Also wise he has PMs with him that in a WCS having cash, particularly USD, PMs of different sizes can buy your way out. A  good back pack  including some light food like packaged noodle soups, health bars and bottled water. In Mexico it can get cool at night. Never travel or even drive at night there. That’s when banditos can be most active. Always stay in busy roads not isolated roads where banditos can set up road blocks and rob you  and tell you were he’s at and where he’s going. Check in everyday by email or something. Actually safest way of traveling around is by bus. Even cops are crooked there. If he drives tell him it’s a must he gets local English speaking reputable insurance that specifies they will immediately bail him out of jail, they have no due process like us.  Reason is if there is a accident not even his fault they can jail both party’s there and guilty till proven innocent and can prove they have money or insurance to pay for it. So he’ll need someone to call right away as those jails are unsanitary and bad and can keep you there. Two cops can be banditos. Unlike Europe where as long as you don’t talk or can speak the language you can blend in but not Mexico. They’ll target tourists. Pull them over on some bogus charge say over speed limit when they didn’t maybe even getting another cop involved to look legitimate. Then tell you that you can settle this right now with a few hundred dollars in cash. They’re trying to scam you. What you tell them is you don’t have the cash ” even if you do”  but you feel you didn’t do anything wrong  and do have a lawyer on call and would prefer to go to court but stay cool. They don’t want that as if they find out what their doing their be fired at the least. If you politely resist, stay low profile they’ll then give you a warning and probably realize you know what they’re doing. They like to do that when people are heading to the airport to leave to thinking they won’t have enough time to go to court. Taxi’s could be fake too so have to make sure it’s a reputable taxi and always let people know where your going and best not to go alone if you don’t know what your walking into. Ask what they consider the bad parts of towns or neighborhoods not to go to. They can use sharp blades to cut back packs so keep his on his side as a guy he’s not likely going to carry it in front of him. Keep some barrier inside the back back pack light. Keep any ID and best more than one on his person not something someone could grab. Don’t flash dollars in public if paying for something try to have it ready and have it in different places. Don’t walk too close to the street where say a motor bike could come by and reach something like a phone. Keep them out of sight, no watches in site or jewelry. Don’t leave a back pack alone for a minute.

Watch videos on warnings. Avoid bars where they could be drugged and robbed or worse. Only go to safer restaurants for the same reason. They can have some awesome and healthy food there and a lot cheaper in US dollars as long as your not in a tourist area where they are waiting for you and Jack up the prices. Same with vendors and if wanted something you could haggle prices. That’s a norm there even with locals. Everything’s a garage sale there they haggle prices even housing and rentals depending on demand. They also sell silver jewelry there you can haggle with us dollars.

Maybe depending on where you live it wasn’t to great for those in health care until towards the end a but generally a demanding job anyways. They were like the Fed as far as keeping up with inflation, always late.

Sheet metal now is using more computerized equipment called CNC I think. I’m not in it but a known company in Calif is in my immediate  family. I think their still far from being replaced by computers though. I think one reason it’s speciality work on demand. From airplanes, computer desks of 90s, to new projects at Disney. So it still needs skilled Class A machinist.
