Huh, silver is creeping back and has recovered half the early losses while gold is still hammered
I guess that’s one way to get the GSR back in line. 🙂
Crimex up in 15 minutes – where the rubber meets the road.
HUI looking to open down 30 pts
Any takers?
So far we’re holding the 32’s on silver and gold. How is it that silver only acts as a monetary metal when it tries to go up but never rallies with the base metal? It doesn’t seem to get the benefit of being an industrial metal either.
Always a lose-lose with silver. ?
ferret – agree, base metals are all up this am as well
is this a reflation trade? Oddly enough platinum and palladium are taking a hit with pm’s
I know Trump never intended to get 145% from China, he probably would have taken 20%. 30% on trinkets won’t make too big a difference, but I also think China will likely swallow the whole 30% on most everything to remain dominant in the US markets.
Trump played the media and the markets like violins. Remember everything was going to crash, inflation would rage, and the economy collapse?
I believe today the SM will be higher than it was when he first announced tariffs. The hedge funds and I hope Blackrock are all taking a bath on their short positions, they are knee deep in shorts while retail stayed long. Eff them.
Price of eggs here are down 50%. Price of gasoline here in my area down from $3.27 to $2.69
I think this will be a blip on the pm chart, I hope anyway. As you said earlier, 4.5% on the 10 year is the line in the sand, if we breach that, the SM could have problems.
China tariffs down to 30%
US tariffs into China down to 10%. Yes, the markets will go wild, but as John Cleese said, “what’s the bleedin’ point?!” A 30% tariff on ultra cheap goods is irrelevant. That’s not going to onshore production from China. Nor is it going to fund the elimination of income tax.
All the pre-tariff pre-Ukraine pre-Gaza reasons to own gold are still in place.
This is going to leave a mark
Ugly out as the SM, oil, and the dollar soar. Rates also up to 4.44% on the 10 yr., awful close to 4.5% which is supposed to be the tipping point for the SM
Gold getting creamed, down over $100 or 3%. Silver is down 2%, after being up most of the night. They flipped a switch about 3 am eastern, gold was down $40 and silver up $.30, then came a huge dump.
Going to be ugly no matter what today for pm’s, probably a lot of hedge funds going to get creamed on the SM rally which is up over 3% as well. Shorts are going to get caught.
All of this is news driven, hard to know if it’s a trend change. The best we can hope for is that the Crimex takes this opportunity to cover. I’m particularly interested in how silver does because for the longest time it has underperformed gold and has always done worse on days like this.
Hoping it’s not the beginning of the summer sorrows.
goldie, Sagan was incredibly over-optimistic.
Nobody understands anything about anything any more. Not just science and technology …..
They don’t understand that mass, uncontrolled migration of groups who will not assimilate and have totally opposite political and religious views is national suicide – see France, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain – but not Poland, Russia, Japan, China and by a narrow squeak the USA.
They don’t understand the dangers of unelected bureaucrats, appointed indefinitely, running the show. See the EU (excepting Slovakia and Hungary, and maybe Poland), UK, USA (you have a long way to go, even if DOGE has made a start), Australia, NZ and China.
They don’t understand economics, interest rates, money, gold or crypto. They are truly sheeple, lambs to the slaughter. Fed a diet of lies by the media believing in the insurrection, global warming, benefits of renewable energy (this isn’t technological, it’s political), necessity for migration, indigenous rights, wokism, importance of fighting Russia.
They have lost the ability to question and to think on every level.
Carl Sagan although he did like pot and a bit of a ham he was very dedicated in thinking to science and tech.
During his final interview, aired on May 27, 1996, Sagan issued a strong warning, telling Charlie Rose:
We’ve arranged a society on science and technology in which nobody understands anything about science and technology, and this combustible mixture of ignorance and power sooner or later is going to blow up in our faces. I mean, who is running the science and technology in a democracy if the people don’t know anything about it.
And he also went on to add:
And the second reason that I’m worried about this is that science is more than a body of knowledge. It’s a way of thinking. A way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we’re up for grabs for the next charlatan political or religious who comes ambling along.
Maya
Must be something to get all those light shows.
Hope your walking better.

9-5 hrs are banker hours might make you rich lol I like his spunk and know them well and there okay but life doesn’t revolved around just them. Still the fact is without the others their lives wouldn’t be as easy or comfortable. Without them you’d be pretty much on your own. We live in a fiat barter system. If they want to continue to have a easier life as in not having to build your own house, car, make your own cloths, electronics, power, water, food, nurse or doctor themselves, stop crime and secure their borders they better stop this insane inflation and have the ability to buy a home, have time with their family’s , retirement plans with investments at a younger age available for them. This isn’t about us against us or survival against them it about us against evil. Without us they could not exist by themselves in the easier life style they have now. But he absolutely right that it is going on and the indoctrination at schools. We evolved by forming groups which also gave us longer life spans. We are actually one of the most vulnerable weakest species standing alone in a forest without weapons out there but at the same time one of the most invasive and some outright evil species. But now if you would have a chance of a better, happier healthier and longer life span away from a government run society its reversing and should be telling people something.

Sort of as expected
Gold getting hit for $40, a little over 1% on the good trade news. Curiously silver is flat, down $.07, not much damage. We have London ahead and they’ll probably try to pile on.
SM futures up over 1%. Should have a good night.
Another week begins.
Goldielocks, Happy Mothers Day to You too!…and here’s a real gift for all who will watch it. It might just change how you think.
Robert Kiyosaki, telling how and why he became rich, and it’s not working a 9 to 5 job. He starts at about 8 minutes, and IMO what he discloses is Priceless! sng
SNG 10:27 May 10
Happy mother’s day to your wife. I got the best strawberry s I ever tasted. If I had a choice of them on a angle food cake with home whipped cream which was always eaten within minutes of making it so hard to grab a piece first or just these strawberries by themselves, Id pick the strawberries. At least we’ll know what food taste like once if they get away with starving the people and hope they don’t which should also have more serious consequences.
On that video I wonder if that was another reason gold was being bought. I wasn’t sure what they were talking about with basal 3 and hope it’s subject to monitoring but we know how that can go.
So, the SM will no doubt soar tomorrow
What about our pm’s? Do they take a hit on the trade news or does it change anything at all?
My guess would be that we take a hit, but I’m not sure of the dynamics of the large entities buying the gold and why exactly.
The Fed also just lost their excuse not to cut rates.
After all the weeping and gnashing of teeth, the China trade deal is done
and yet they were so powerful!
Blackrocks housing playbook ” a bubble that doesn’t pop” and your not in it.
They own interest in everything that builds, rents, or sells them.
Ferrett
Real science and the dedicated is hard to follow. Fake science is apparently easier to believe.
Ferrett
I think what he’s gonna say under duress from the plandemic and operation mocking bird and all the false info and data out there plus the lock downs if he halted the vaccine without any data yet that it did not stop covid and was not safe without knowing or recognized that yet and corruption with NIH, FDA and WHO he would have been blamed for the Covid deaths and they would if used that to keep up the lockdowns. It’s individuals fault for not doing their own homework on alternatives as well as risks taking a experiment that wouldn’t even tell them what’s in it or how the trials went was up to them and same for any other product instead of ” trusting the science.” People think in hindsight on what they learned AFTER the fact , not what they didn’t know back then. People were demanding the jab and even hostile to people who refused to take it. Then the shutdowns also made it easier to rig the elections. The only ones to blame is the people themselves and voting for Biden who mandated it. IT shifted the blame of the lab and those behind it like the NIH and still haven’t done anything about it. So if they want someone to blame, blame NIH and blame themselves for believing them. No one backed Trump when he was looking for a treatment did they, only a few who did their own homework but the overwhelming majority was in fear and had a predestined believe from operation mocking bird and other fake news that they shouldn’t take any chances, Ivermectin was horse medicine, you’ll kill other people if you don’t take it so lined up and drank the Cool Aid and landed right in the culprits hands.
goldie, yep, that exposes the gullibility of Trump.
Sales people are often very gullible. It’s like they fall for the same pitches they make to others. Trump was openly pro-hydroxychloroquine initially but then fell for Fauci’s vaccine pitch. No excuse for that. There was nothing more important at the time than to ensure people’s safety, and he failed miserably.
It’s a tricky one, isn’t it Donald? You can’t come down too hard on Little Tone, ‘cos he was working for you. Put him in the witness box, and what’s he gonna say? Eh?
Maddog, a classic indeed!
And he is so right. Maybe it lost a bit in translation though. “You have been murdering our citizens for eleven years. You have broken your 1991 promises about not encroaching on our national security 14 times. You signed two peace treaties which you have subsequently boasted on national television that you never had any intention of keeping, you have blown up your energy security and hence national economies and tried to blame it on Russia and now you are threatening us?” Then slot in his award winning diplomatic comment.
{edit} Maybe an alternative scenario was:
“How’s it going out there Dmitry?”
“It’s bad, Vlad. Apart from another two members joining NATO since we started the R2D, they’re now waving another piece of peace paper at us.”
“Ummm. Remind me what happened when we agreed to accept peace in 2022, Dmitry my friend?”
“The coalition of the willing led by the British Prime Minister ripped it up, Vlad. Blew the whole thing out of the water.”
“OK Dmitry, send them a suitable reply. No need to run it past me first (wink).”
