I’m sure there are mining analysts who have written about this. Maybe even AI would help. Obviously thicker is better, higher grade is better, shallower is better. Type of rock is important, oxides are easier to treat rather than refractory ore. I like greater than 1 gram per ton for an open pit project, although some mines are successful treating lower grades than that. Stripping ratio is important for open pit mines. How much overburden do they have to remove to get to the ore? I owned a PM stock which didn’t perform well even though they had good grade for an open pit and lengthy intercepts. When I looked at it closer I noticed that the ore was deep and would be expensive to uncover. I sold the stock. Underground mining they need a better grade I like 5gr a ton a or better. There too depth is important. Deep mines are expensive but if the grade is good enough it will still happen.
