The more I read and research about China, the more I think that outside of nuclear capabilities they are even more of a paper tiger than we are. I’m also concerned with them making a play for Taiwan out of desperation, but China has a massive Achillies heel – The Three Gorges dam. Taiwan could actually reach that with ballistic missiles. The dam is not that well-built, and they’ve had problems, admitting in 2020 that it is “deformed” but still “safe.”
Were it to collapse, they estimate that 1.3-1.9 million people would be killed. Worse than that for them, it would wipe out a huge swath of their manufacturing capabilities.
There’s also a big question out there as to the death toll in China from Covid and their actual population numbers. It may be significantly less than the 1.4 billion they claim. Hard to know exactly, I’ve heard numbers of dead from Covid in the hundreds of millions. Seems crazy to me but I don’t know.
We don’t seem to be that worried about them. Maybe we’re making a mistake, or maybe there’s a reason for that.
We’ve swallowed a lot of fear porn propaganda here in the US about our adversaries. A lot of propaganda about a lot of things.
I don’t know.
