oh, joy, the turkey buzzards are back. here in the deep south, each march, the turkey vultures gather and strut around in a mating season ritual. several birds (a dozen?) hop around on the ground with their wings partly opened as part of their mating season social behavior.
they have chosen my front yard to hold their meetings for several years now. perhaps it is because i have a couple acres of open space with tall, leafless (at this season) trees on the edges. it’s an honor i’m not sure i need, but they’re here this morning, strutting, chasing each other, eyeing the year’s new females, generally having a high old time.
