texas nuclear plant also shut down, why ? circulating lake water is necessary to cool the steam from the turbines that is pumped back to the steam generators to make steam…. lake is frozen, no circulation. shutdown!
texas also did not want to be tied to national electric grid, too expensive; operators were not allowed to be re-inbersed (highter utility bill) for non-used backup power sources or ‘cold weather’ back-ups, etc, etc, etc…..
