Mr. Copper – I lived in Belgium from 1975 to 1978

Posted by Alex Valdor @ 17:12 on December 22, 2020

– Yes ! Six weeks vacation , I started in October and was eligible by Jan.1
– Was paid 14 months per year . Double pay Dec. (Christmas expenses) and June (Vacation expenses).
– Indexed salary – that was the era of high inflation – so every month my salary was increased to compensate for higher cost of living .
– Since I was non-Belgian , recruited from out-of-country , by a corporation from the USA , my annual salary base was discounted by 30% for tax calculations.
– I had three children , so was considered a ‘large family’ ( famille nombreuse ) so received a large family allowance check from the gov’t each month. It was almost as much as my income tax deduction .
– We lived in a beautiful apartment across from a large park with lakes – my rent was also increased each month by the same index factor.

– The downside ? I was taxed (monthly?) for having a television , to pay for the national TV service ( similar to BBC in UK or CBC in Canada ). PBS in USA is paid from our IRS taxes , not a separate stamp tax .
– Car insurance was costly .
– It was nescessary to take a day off work every year to get the car inspected at a government run inspection center … a real pain … any minor issue found (e.g. wipers ‘too brittle’) meant coming back again another day for another fee .

Americans Bought Approximately 21 Million Guns in 2020, Sales up 73%

At this point in December it is already apparent Americans bought approximately 21 million guns this year, an increase of 73 percent over the number purchased in 2019.

ABC News quotes figures from The Trace to report the estimated 21 million guns sold and claims the buying surge is the result of a “perfect storm” consisting of “the pandemic, economic recession, civil unrest and a divisive presidential election.”

They spoke to a mother of three named Trish Beaudet, who explained she has never owned a gun before but is now buying one for herself and one for her 25-year-old daughter.

Beaudet said, “I’ve never owned a gun. I’ve never wanted a gun. I’ve never had a gun in my home.”

She then pointed to the chaos in the streets and on the news,  lamenting:

It really bothers me when I watched things on the news, when you talk about the riots, and the looting, and the violence that’s happening. Pulling a gun is the last thing I ever want to do, but I want to know that if I need to protect myself, my family, my, you know, my children, that I can do that.

Divorced mother of two and “self-described Democrat” Erin Hart told a similar story: “My nightmare scenario would be being at home alone, middle of the night, and just myself and, you know, the boys, and, and someone coming in to harm us. When things start to hit a little closer home it kind of makes you sit up and think about it.”

November 2020 was the 11th consecutive month of record background checks for gun sales. FBI figures showed there were 3,626,335 National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS) checks performed in November 2020, which represented more checks than were performed in any November since NICS was established.

So, listening to this guy on FOX Business over lunch, he says Bitcoin has increased 203% per year since its inception. I guess because it’s so valuable and says it will leave gold in the dust because of its value.

I’m just not sure what value it has other than they make so few of them. I have baseball cards that they make few of as well.

Bitcoin? Really? What has the world and our monetary system become?

I’m lost.

So THAT’S why US citizens are sheltered news black out from European Information. The Americans would get jealous and pissed off and demand the same benefits. The ONLY other European info I ever got 20 some years ago, I worked with a guy from Germany…

And I heard they get 6 weeks vacation, unlimited sick days, free college, and free medical. Another guy from communist Romania (a really high skilled electrical engineer) told me…”You guys are snowed. It’s really no better here, its just like Romania”.

I told him it was NOT fair or right for him to get a free education and then abandon his home country that gave it to him.

Wow big paper gold rip off! They changed the rules and investors can no longer receive gold for their shares in this fund.

Goldman Takes Over Gold ETF

Today saw two major changes occur in the area of commodity ETFs. Not only did the Perth Mint Physical Gold ETF (AAAU) transfer over to Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) and adopt Goldman’s name, the VanEck Vectors Coal ETF (KOL) changed its creation status and will no longer trade after today.

A Change Of Venue

When it launched, AAAU was backed by Australia’s Perth Mint and allowed investors to redeem shares for physical gold in the form of minted bars, cast bars or coins. As of Dec. 11, the $515 million AAAU was no longer backed by the state of Western Australia, where the Perth Mint is located, and Goldman Sachs has taken over the operation of the fund.

Michael Crinieri, global head of ETFs for GSAM, said the firm believed investors in the fund would benefit from the firm’s size, scale and expertise. It is GSAM’s first foray into the physical commodity ETF space.

Custodian J.P. Morgan or the fund’s subcustodians will store AAAU’s gold in vaults located in the United Kingdom, according to the prospectus, rather than in the central bank vaults of Perth, Australia, as had previously been done.

AAAU’s ticker and expense ratio remain the same, but the new prospectus states that “Investors do not have the right to take delivery of the physical gold bullion in exchange for the Shares such investors own.”

Hydroxychloroquine is effective, and consistently so when provided early, for COVID-19: a systematic review

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7534595/

Prodromos1,∗ and  T. Rumschlag2

Introduction

There is a need for effective treatment for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), with or without azithromycin (AZ), has been found to have efficacy as a treatment for COVID-19 in some studies [1,2], while other studies have not shown efficacy [3,4]. While we do not prescribe HCQ to typical patients, we do treat various forms of inflammatory arthritis in patients prescribed HCQ by outside providers. Some physicians have stated that HCQ has greater efficacy if provided earlier in the course of the disease [5,6]. Several studies showing negative efficacy have been withdrawn as a result of methodologic problems [7].
We hypothesized that HCQ clinical studies would show the agent to have significant efficacy more often than not for COVID-19, and that efficacy would be greater if HCQ was provided earlier in the disease course. We also hypothesized that some studies that failed to show efficacy would be biased against positive efficacy and that no unbiased studies would show worsening. Finally, we hypothesized that HCQ would be found to be safe.

We have different systems…..for example if yr unemployed u can be on the register for years and years…..in France u get 2/3 of last pay for upto 8 yrs I think, then unemployment rate..

In the UK we too have unemployment pay for years and now tks to Bat Clap, the Government is paying 80 % of peoples pay to Companies, so they don’t fire anyone.

Lots of people are getting big lump sums and doing their houses up, buying cars etc….which is one big reason why no-one is rioting…yet.
