I’m not sure the US ever really gained independence from the Crown, we had traitors and subversion from the start. Alexander Hamilton being one, bringing the bankers (Rothschilds) from Europe and their tentacles to the states.
Truthfully, most of us are nothing but slaves, we just have freedom for hours at a time.
