Oh they know where the underground magma flows are, they just don’t know where or how it will crack out of the surface crust rocks.  That’s why Leilani Estates was such a stupid place to build… right on top of a known rift zone and magma chamber that cracked open and flowed lava in the area as recently as 1955.

The big earthquakes apparently broke an underground dike in the plumbing and allowed the summit lava AND eruptive Pu’u O’o vent to both drain lower down the rift ridge underground.  The present eruptive area became swollen and cracked with new lava pressure coming in from upslope areas.

Today the earthquake swarm is moving eastward, more downslope along the rift towards Cape Kumukahi.  That area out at the eastern tip near Kapoho last broke open in 1960 and flowed to the ocean.  An easterly migration downslope of the eruption would be a good thing, as it is sparsely populated and direct lava flow away from the subdivisions on the north side of the ridge…. where I happen to be.

McCain defends giving dossier to Comey: ‘I would do it again’
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) wrote in his upcoming memoir that he does not regret alerting the FBI about the so-called Steele dossier, which details President Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.
McCain acknowledged in January 2017 that he delivered a dossier of “sensitive information” to then-FBI Director James Comey.
In his upcoming book, “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and Other Appreciations,” McCain wrote that he “did what duty demanded I do” in passing on the documents.
“I discharged that obligation, and I would do it again. Anyone who doesn’t like it can go to hell,” McCain said, according to excerpts of the book published by The Guardian.
He added that any risk that the president might be compromised by Russians “had to be investigated.”
The Steele dossier has been at the center of investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election conducted by congressional committees and special counsel Robert Mueller. Trump has repeatedly called the latter’s probe a “witch hunt” and a “hoax.”

The document has been a source of controversy, as it was funded partly by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
It started out as an opposition research document funded by the conservative website The Washington Free Beacon.

Glad you have water, hope it doesn’t get affected. Read about the water and rocks. I had to take that chance with rocks one time, cooking on them hoping they didn’t explode camping. Long story, forgot someone borrowed some of my camping cooking gear on a spontaneous trip but didn’t put them directly over the fire but of course had to wash them then heat them first. Read that there was no known end to volcano right now. That it’s being studied to learn from all over. They said they can’t tell what’s going on under ground. Now if heat sensor aircraft can find things why can’t they find the flows?
No moment of rest around here either. Son in law got his finger stuck in a saw chipper thing not sure what it was he has a lot of contraptions while I was there somewhere else. Part of it missing and after having on hand sterile wraps was looking for a small piece of his finger after unplugging the contraption grossing my daughter out. Anyways with all that saw dust couldn’t find it in a hurry. A very small price. Have to check how he’s doing today in the hospital. Didn’t take any bone so told him don’t let them cut it off.

Yup they managed to stop the dollar rally and have somehow driven long rates way down, I suppose on the back of a weak CPI, which was obviously cooked, though why that helps the dollar…don’t ask.

Needless to say the SM finds it all very bullish. So again we may be left alone…though $1320 is now the $1315 line.

…I dunno but the mkt looks like it’s in the “no downside” mode again–the “stock killer” 3% 10 yr yield seems–like everything else–to have been shrugged off…that said the mkt is up 5 days in a row and shorting this opening rally might be good risk reward–It looks like they are back to mindlessly pouring money into the FANG stocks…causa Buffett and apple-?
