Volcano has the Right-of-Way !

This morning’s pause was short lived.  Fissures 13 & 14 opened on the east end and are spewing lava now.  I’m looking at terrain charts and ‘steepest flow channels’ and it looks like if we get a major outflow from this area it will go NorthEast to the ocean before it gets to my Quaking Volcano Ranch… hopefully.   But there are no guarantees.  Tutu Pele is fickle.

AFAIC as far as I’m concerned.

Atomic weapons are not handguns.

If 10 countries have the bomb = 10 chances for atomic war. If 100 countries have the bomb then 100 chances for atomic war. I would prefer the lesser chances!

Re your @ 16:25 “But how many times in the entire history of the world has that scenario arisen?  Probably just the once.”

In my lifetime it was the 1945 to 1975 era. The post war boom they called it. I think the USA deserved it, since we saved Europe’s asses. I assume after the depression after 1934 people may have been well off, because they established a decent valued minimum wage, I guess to help get the country out of the great depression.

re your part “you want it to be the USA that gets there at the expense of the rest of the world.”

YES. The Lord givith, and the Lord should takith back. 🙂 Haven’t we done enough? Its their turn to reciprocate. I think they can afford to go backwards for a few decades. They have a loaf under each arm. Our loaf. 🙂

Like I heard Wilber Ross say…..”It was nice that we helped rebuild Europe and Japan after the war, but they forgot to put a time limit on it.” The bank made those no doc liar loans to save their own asses. The R/E market should have collapsed WAY before 2008. They prolonged liquidity to prolong the trend, or put off the crash.

Nope. Not joking.

I live in a relatively peaceful place where everyone has the right to carry.

Mutually assured destruction is a powerful thing.

Look at the actions by Nuclear countries against non-nuclear countries, war, regime change, death and destruction. Course that’s just mainly the US and Israel engaging in those acts.

Don’t know what AFAIC is…

“Give nukes to everyone”

Can’t agree with this one. AFAIC the fewer countries that have them the less likely they are to be used. I assume you were joking anyways, after all they aren’t Colt 45s.

Do I think Iran having nukes is a good thing? Nope

Do I think Israel having nukes is a good thing? Nope

Do I think the US, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, UK, France etc. having nukes is a good thing? Nope.

Give nukes to everyone, maybe everyone will be polite and hesitant to use them. “An armed society is a polite society” Mutual destruction gives one pause.

Let’s not forget, there is only one country in history that has used nukes and that would be US.

Buygold … then there’s this … Is he going to abide by the terms of the agreement except he’s gonna build a few nukes too? :-)

Defiant Iranian leader says country will enrich even MORE uranium after Trump blows up nuclear deal
Iran’s President Rouhani made the statement within minutes of President Trump’s announcement he is pulling the U.S. out of the Iran deal
The deal imposed strict limits on Iran’s uranium enrichment
Storing up more material could put Iran back on a path to having enough material for a nuclear weapon
But its activities would be limited by the deal it is still a party to
Three European leaders released a statement saying they will remain in the Iran deal, which involved Iran and six signatories
Rouhani said he was sending Iran’s foreign minister to meet with powers still in the deal

I think that’s a smart move too … shows how “peaceful” they are. Now lets hope they do what they say they are going to. Not always so clear.

Israel is not going anywhere at this point. The Arab or Persian countries are just eventually going to have to accept that fact or the whole area will continue to be a bloodfest. If Syria ended up like Jordan or Egypt I’m sure that would be fine with the Israelis.

Also I think that in the usual manner the belligerence of the Iranian leadership is aimed at keeping their own public behind them. A lot of the younger people have different ideas than the Mullahs.

Iran staying in the Nuclear deal with the EU, Russia and China is a smart move on their part, both politically and economically.

Yeah, I’ve heard about the Green Beret “advisors”. Generally what they do is train, rather than engage.

As far as your long term view of foreign troops in Syria, I don’t disagree. As long as the Syrians continue to choose their elected leaders AND other countries aren’t invited into a sovereign nation looking to protect it’s interests.

What we’ve had for years is foreign interests trying to overthrow a duly elected gov’t. in a sovereign nation. Not Kosher.

Have you seen the latest? Now the US has Green Berets in Yemen. Supposedly they are “advising.”

I was talking about the best solution – how it should work out in the end, “ultimately.” Could be in 10 years.

Obviously the Russians couldn’t pull out right now … maybe the Iranians could …

The Iranians bringing in surface to surface missiles makes Israel nervous … not to mention the new air defenses. It would be better if the Iranians weren’t there.

PS I agree that the Israelis have been overly aggressive at a bad time and that we shouldn’t be dragged into a war with Iran just because Israel wants to take them out.

” If Iran would stop threatening Israel and pulled their troops out of Syria that would count for a lot. Ultimately all foreign soldiers should be out of Syria.”

If Iran and Russia pulled their troops out of Syria, Assad and his gov’t would be sitting ducks for the Israeli’s to overthrow the regime in their quest for the “Greater Israel” project, US help of course being mandatory.

Are verbal threats worse than actual military attacks? When was the last time Iran attacked Israel again? How about ISIS???

I’m stunned!

Like I said Osama gave them a green light to that and more including killing injuring our soldiers. Now his shadow gov wants to try to impeach Trump. Osama didn’t bother to make those demands before hand. Meanwhile his people starving so he needs to talk war. Maybe Mueller should ask him what he was thinking like one of the questions he wants to ask Trump on firing Comey which he doesn’t even have the authority to ask a sitting president. I hope he listens to his attorneys and does not talk to him.

I’m grokking on that. If Iran would stop threatening Israel and pulled their troops out of Syria that would count for a lot. Ultimately all foreign soldiers should be out of Syria.

I think it will be like trying to take a fish from a bear. Wait you can’t have all these fish we need to take a few back. I think Obama knew that tried to do as much damage as he could throwing our tax money out before he left. Then planned a shadow gov after. Now how will it affect talks with N Korea.

Iran will remain in nuclear deal, US withdrawal illegal – Rouhani

Posted by ipso facto @ 17:35 on May 8, 2018

President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the US out of the Iranian nuclear deal is illegal, illegitimate and violates international agreements, said Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in a televised address.

Rouhani said that Iran has always complied with the nuclear deal and is going to stay in the accord despite the US pullout. The Iranian Foreign Ministry was instructed to hold talks on the nuclear deal with the EU, Russia and China within the next few weeks.

“If we achieve the deal’s goals in cooperation with other members of the deal, it will remain in place… By exiting the deal, America has officially undermined its commitment to an international treaty,” Rouhani said.
