The rest of the world has been feeding off the USA consumers and taxpayers since 1913. The only good years were 1945 to 1975. Maybe TPTB felt we deserved it? After saving them from Hitler.

Since the Euro is the most heavily weighted currency against the USD, then logically if the Euro is up, gold will follow because the USD is likely down.

In 1979, it’s true that people had less debt. The USD was low and inflation was raging. Rates were raised to stem the tide of inflation and a falling USD.

Pretty different than what is taking place today.

And raised rates to make us stop spending. Now, the master planers want Americans to borrow and SPEND money.

I see this all the time. We always think the dollar is the dominant mover that moves everything else. But I’ve been thinking the Euro is the dog wagging the dollar tail.       If Europe’s economy is slowing, they would push the Euro down. Europe seems to get whatever they want. As far back as I can remember.

The difference between 1979 and now is that the USD was being defended and rates rose a lot faster.

Not the case today – yet anyway.

U.S. stocks up 8 days in a row–a 200-300 DOW pt. pullback is not much…but “the longest journey starts with the 1st step”….one never knows when a serious correction is starting…as for G&S they almost never recover on days like these–the 10 yr note is getting a lot of attention today and the $–but they are old news–i know it seems hard for gold to buck a 3% yield and a strong dollar but gold went from 250 to 850 doing just that in 1979…

What support?

PM’s only have resistance. Wait until the players burn themselves out? Will never happen, they have unlimited funds.

Buy physical precious metals and quality shares at times when it appears derivative traders are becoming exhausted.

Retail sales are weak and disappoint…so Bonds should fall, along with PM’s maybe, but bond rates are still rising….Ok so sales were weak due to high fuel costs, Ok Bonds can rise…but PM’s should as well….but scum say no way.

The chart says it all.  I had hoped we would break out to the upside.  I have bought more shares because I think we will see the new bull start soon.

In other news, I see the USD is on the rise again, as are rates. PM’s can’t go up in that environment no matter what the SM does.

The Palestinians are victims of the cold war and that ubber shiite Arafat was deliberately used by the USSR to sow trouble in the world. The USSR originally supported Israel at it’s creation, but when Arafat came on the scene, they recognised what a nasty piece of work he was, so quickly switched allegiance, fully expecting him to be a perpetual pain in the arse to humanity, but really for the West. They then began to create the whole victim story, which to this day lives on, faithfully supported by the left.

The other dirty secret is Palestinians are hated by all other Arabs, no one likes them and never have going way back in time, as they are basically the laziest people on the planet, which is why only lip service is given, to support them.

Those are the simple facts from history.

It just so happens that the late 60’s was the last time any good passenger trains were seen.  But yeah, I can relate.  I lived thru those times.  Careful now or my PTSD will kick in….

Locally, it is known as “Pele’s Hair” and consists of long fine strands of volcanic glass.   It takes a specially thin, liquid lava that is ejected from a vent with a lot of gas pressure that draws the lava droplets out long and thin into glass strands.  It is rather rare as it takes special conditions to create it, but yes, it is a real phenomenon.  ANY volcanic dust is not good to breath…. whether rock ash or glass… you don’t want it in your lungs.  Dust masks are the order of the day if one is in an ashfall area.   Many people in Volcano village have had open top water catchment tanks for years.  Now they are all looking for tarps to cover the tanks in case of ash fall.

One of our ham radio operators is also the Fire Dept. helicopter pilot who regularly patrols the volcano for the county and civil defense.  He gives us ham radio operators updates after the flights on what he sees.  Nice to have ‘source eyes’ in the air.  Last night hams in Pahoa village, 5 miles upwind of the fissures, reported the volcano could be heard roaring like distant thunder… continuously.  They could see the red glow in the sky also.  I was in Hilo town for the weekend so I missed it.
