The COT’s are no doubt worrisome and Ballinger is probably right. What I found interesting is that the large specs besides adding 40K longs also added 7K shorts. It seems to me that they would add some shorts to protect their positions, i.e. when the commercials do a one minute dump of long positions to defend their shorts, the large specs could counter by covering their shorts to protect their longs. Play the game like the commercials do – in the opposite fashion. Seems the large specs always go one way or other, not playing both sides.

As for North Korea, you would think that US Gov’t. satellites would pick up any launch in seconds and retaliation would be swift.

My wife thinks the whole Hawaii thing was done to gauge the public reaction and keep us all in fear.

Brexit vote may be reversed, says British campaigner Farage

LONDON (Reuters) – Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage said on Sunday he was increasingly concerned that a vote for Britain to leave the European Union could be overturned by a powerful group of the bloc’s supporters.

In an interview with Britain’s Observer newspaper, Farage, former head of the euroskeptic UK Independence Party, said a well-organized and funded group of campaigners that wants to remain in the EU was drowning out those who want to leave.

“The Remain side are making all the running,” said Farage. “They have a majority in parliament, and unless we get ourselves organized we could lose the historic victory that was Brexit.”

the gold and silver markets this week. No matter what they throw at it, gold shrugs it off and keeps on moving ahead.

The action in the gold market caught me completely off-guard this week as it did the bullion banks. I learned awhile ago that the only way to survive the countless criminal interventions in paper gold was to think and act like a Commercial. As much as I practice mimicry of these cretins, there is one major difference; I do not short gold or silver. In the past, once the Commercials reverse (as they did from buyers to sellers in late December), they stay in sell-mode mode for weeks and as I posted earlier this week, when the COT turns negative as RSI’s for the Gold Miner ETF’s exceeds 70, the next move is usually DOWN. Since the end of the COT week Tuesday at midnight, this Rocket-Richard-like gold market took one look at the opposing players and decided to carry both defencemen over the blue line and stuff the puck into the net. Adding $30 per ounce, SOMETHING or SOMEONE spooked the big money into ignoring the bullion bank shenanigans and take the gold market up to settle out the week a hair below $1,340, a mere $20 from my January forecast made back in December with gold at $1,280. I told you shortly after New Year’s Day that I was taking down half the call positions on the Senior and Junior Miner ETF and I did so at a double and while I was early, I am still quite long the calls despite selling a few more yesterday.

So it’s 8:11am and the cellphone goes off with the Emergency Alert signal tones.

“EMERGENCY ALERT!  Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii.  Seek immediate shelter.  This is not a drill! ”

Who needs coffee when ya get an adrenaline rush like that?!

Somebody effed up at State Civil Defense.  Vern Miyagi, director of State Civil Defense, was on the TV news as fast as they could contact him to tell everyone it was a false alarm.   WHO?  HOW?… to be determined.   We shall see.   I think they need to tighten up their procedures.

THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME!  A few years back when I worked at the TV station I received a an emergency alert on the civil defense line for a “Radiation Emergency hazard. ”  It was going to automatically relay out onto the airwaves in a few minutes if we didn’t intercept it.  I ran yelling to the newsroom for someone to call State Civil Defense to confirm this before we let it out to air.  They were clueless that they had just sent out a real alert.  “It was just a test”.   NOPE!  WE GOT A REAL ALERT.

“Oh…. nevermind…. it was just a test”   I dumped the alert from the EAS memory, but I think a radio station or two in town did broadcast the alert.   That one was squashed without a lot of publicity.  I couldn’t even convince the news manager to have someone investigate the error.    Complacency.

So the ‘fat button’ finger strikes again.  The Governor was looking pretty grim as he said he was going to get to the bottom of it.  So we’ve all been tested… again.   They never did trigger the new “attack warning” warble on the CD sirens.

It seems like a reversal of December 7,1941 in Hawaii when nobody paid any attention to warnings about an imminent Japanese attack ..It was a nice sunny Sunday morning and everybody was playing Golf  a typical Hawaii beach Day .The US NAVAL fleet was enjoying the SUN ,planning the DAys picnic events .When the Sirens did start nobody believed them until the BOMBS started falling….This time a Japanese American Mr Miyagi sounded the Alarm went to his computer and the Computer said “are you sure you want to sound the Alarm”? he said yes  !  This time the Japanese didnt attack, the Japanese American  guy sounded a False alarm..!   Still cant trust those Japanese ? When asked if the guy responsible should be fired,he replied thats a Personel decision I cant make….. Mr MIYAGI  replied   Wax on Wax off..Wax on Wax off…

Yeah, that’s the thing – exactly. We’re up off our last lows of what $1240 or so? (I’m too lazy to check) Here we are back close to the Sept. 2017 highs, and I’m already fantasizing about a liftoff. Problem: the move higher is typical, inching up.

Now the share action Friday was finally somewhat encouraging. I hate being “somewhat” encouraged, because for years it’s lead to disappointment.

Silver is a toothpick, and Gold a 2×4 sitting in the midst of a Redwood Forest. Simply boggles any sensible mind to the extent the PM’s are so closely controlled. ??? One might suspect some of those gazillion worth of derivatives have a clause in small print tying them to gold or silver, in whole or even part. ???

Drb’s post regarding JPM Silver holdings tells us something. Perhaps JPM will one day be the world’s sole banker with its silver holdings backing any and all transactions. Reminds me of of ‘Another’s’ comments; ” Can you not follow in the footprints of Giants?”

Certainly reason to get more serious about acquiring more physical ounces while we can.
