People already evacuating traffic building up on Keys.

Posted by goldielocks @ 17:40 on September 5, 2017

A State of Local Emergency was declared for Monroe County on Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic is building on the overseas highway as locals and tourists get out of the keys ahead of an evacuation order.

“We’re just evacuating, getting out-of-town before everybody else does,” said Key West resident Luann Huff.

Huff lives in Key West. She’s heading to Central Florida and she’s not alone on the road.

“If it stays on this course, then I’m gone,” said Florida Keys resident Cedric Burns. “I’m not going to stay.”

Burns lives in Marathon. His house is ready and he’s gassing up his truck and is ready to leave.

“For the Florida Keys, if you were to create the worst case scenario that is what we are looking at,” said Monroe Co. Emergency Operations Center Director Martin Senterfitt.

The grim outlook prompted Senterfitt to order mandatory evacuations.

“We’re emphatically telling people you must evacuate, you can not afford to stay on an island with a Category 5 hurricane coming at you. Most of this island chain is only three to five feet above sea level. With the surges we’re expecting this is not the place to be,” said Senterfitt.

A visitor evacuation is expected to begin at sunrise on Wednesday. An evacuation for residents also will be issued. The time has yet to be determined.

There will be no shelters in Monroe County.

Eric Bradway who was visiting Key West from Philadelphia didn’t wait until Wednesday to leave.

“It’s going to be crazy getting out of here, gridlock,” said Bradway, “Getting out of the Keys, there’s only one way in and one way out. It’s going to be crazy.”

Many locals are also already making plans to get out.

“I’m scared. Category 5, never been through one. Been through a four but never a five and I don’t want to be here,” said Elizabeth Prieto who lives in Marathon.

While the water is calm now emergency mangers expect Irma to send waves over water that could cover the islands.

“With a Category 5 coming at the Florida Keys we could be looking at wave heights that would literally put the ocean over the islands. We’re got to remember we’re an island community and islands go under water,” said Senterfitt.

The line of traffic is already building heading toward the mainland and that traffic is likely to get much heavier.

“Today is just another prep day,” said charter boat captain Johnny Maddox. “I started yesterday morning on the prep.”

Maddox is getting his boat ready for a very powerful storm. He knows how dicey it can in the Keys. He was there for Wilma and remembers slogging around in waste deep water from storm surge.

“If you’re not in a Category 5 building you need to get out of town. Just leave. Take your belongings and your insurance papers, get your pets, get your meds and all that kind of stuff and head to the mainland,” he said.

And days before the wind begins to blow some are slowly starting to board up.

The folks at Bud N Mary’s in Islamorada are getting buildings and boats storm ready.

“Normally it’s a wait and see deal, but I’ll be honest with you, this track of this particular hurricane is so close to [Hurricane] Donna and could be so devastating that we’re getting an early jump on it, so to speak,” said Richard Stanczyk with Bud N Mary’s.

All Monroe County schools and county offices will be closed beginning Wednesday.

Monroe County’s three hospitals – the Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon and Mariners Hospital in Tavernier – have begun plans to evacuate their patients. Monroe County’s Health Department is also closing Wednesday.

Its looking more and more like “the worm has turned”. Dow SnP Naz in trouble, and AU AG finally back on track. Or in gear as Dines would say.

Hope you are high enough above the storm surge!  I recall you are waterfront.   Backup power and fuel for the Oxygen machine?  Spare tanks of Oxygen??  This is a BIG ONE, old friend.  Be Safe.

Remember… Obama came from here.   Single-party Democratic machine politics with petty internal infighting here.

The ‘Robotics’ problem is something George Ure at Urbansurvival.com has often explored.   Tax laws favor the machine owner for production, and put the worker out of work…. and loss of tax revenue, too.  Ure proposes that robotic machines be taxed on their productivity output, similar to how human workers are taxed.   The tax revenues could then be used to support the human workers displaced.

Of course it would never happen that way once the poly-ticks get their hands on the revenue stream.

I get the feeling that if the dam breaks at 220 HUI, we’ll probably start to see some pretty good upside in the shares. Course we’re going to have to see the metals continue to stay firm.

Hopefully we are getting close

You might try the iPhone 6 because you can talk into it like I’m doing now to test it and don’t have to write. I heard the seven is a pain so I don’t get it. You just hit the speaker icon and it turns on. I don’t use it because it adds words sometimes but then others when you keep speaking like now the extra words will go away. It’s not perfect but better than nothing.

Well keep watch cuz I think the increase is due to N Korea and Japan Yen which about mirrored Gold was also moving up with this threat from that ? However I saw some divergence as Yen slowed while PMs kept moving. That might explain why many of the stocks are not reflecting the move in safe haven phyzz.

However it ends it can’t end soon enough. Amazing to think that we’ve been jerked around for so long.

I don’t go by tv shows. I’ve been to Miami and kinda too busy for me. South beach for instance. Wandered to the beach at night leaving my friend who feared to step out and ran into a bunch of 20 year old boys and thought oh no.Turned out they were originally from my area after asking me questions cuz they didn’t believe me so after I was cool with them lol They wanted to go back though guess tired of it. Was just passing through from the islands beating a hurricane out we few around the day before in September. Another time years ago for Disney with my youngest. Very humid in summer with rain and lightening. At Disney met people from all over the world. More to do in that area than I had time as Disneys four parks and Universals two parks was enough.
Not about beaches but about weather in winter. Can’t see it dropping below 60 lol I guess after a summer with humidity it would be cold.
In Calif you can go a few hours in any direction depending where you are and get different temps. When I went to Tahoe last week it was 79-80 and they thought that was hot. Most lived where I did said too hot but can have brutal winters where ours are mild but still need fireplaces. Their mountain rollercoaster was crushed in last winters snow pack. When I stepped out of the ? ” new emojis that pop up when typing on my ? coming back it was 109 and with a sudden 30 degree shocker.

I agree. My guess is us gold bugs have been bashed so many times, many are just holding, not buying or selling. Later on the “strangers” will enter our sand box and drive all shares much higher. At that time we can sell half our positions to THEM, just before the next correction.

“In my opinion, it will continue to work until and unless the fed is prevented from printing money and the banks that work for the fed actually have to play by the rules (that we have to play by).”

That would certainly throw a monkey wrench into their works … but how bout the rig ends when crimex and the LBMA no longer have any gold to deliver when contract holders demand delivery. They can legally (at least for crimex) deliver cash instead but I think that would be the end of their operations.

Rig Ending?

Posted by ipso facto @ 11:16 on September 5, 2017

“On 16 June 2017 Safehaven published my article “Another Crazy Conspiracy Theory About PM Manipulation”. I wrote:”When will the gold price suppression end? It is ending right now, before our eyes. Retail buyers have finally understood that central bank price smashes are like Happy Hours in a nightclub. It means that the “SALE” signs go up and gold is offered at a discount. At the current intensity it is impossible to hide the manipulation. It is just so obvious. A manipulation that is recognised as such does not work any more. Price smashes now attract swift buying. This defeats the object and makes it impossible for the manipulators to cover their naked shorts without creating a massive spike in the price. It is evident to me that the current price suppression regime broke within the last six weeks precisely because investors learnt to buy when central banks sell.” This is exactly what is happening right now. The driving force is the strong demand for physical gold. According to my calculation Chinese and Indian demand alone exceeds global mine supply. Add to this your projection of demand from the rest of the world and you will see that demand for physical gold exceeds mine supply by a very large margin. This demand overhang has been in place for at least the last five years. The anti-gold cartel has been successful in camouflaging this by dumping gold contracts on the COMEX.”

Acacia pulls back from major gold mine in Tanzania

Posted by ipso facto @ 10:38 on September 5, 2017

Acacia Mining (LON:ACA), Tanzania’s No.1 gold producer, announced Monday that it will reduce operational activity at its Bulyanhulu Gold Mine.

“The decision was driven by unsustainable cash outflows at the mine due to the concentrate ban and the operating environment,” officials said in a statement.

Acacia is in the midst of a bitter dispute with the Eastern African country’s government, whose mining authorities imposed a ban on exports of unprocessed ore to encourage the construction of a local smelter. The move, which took place in early March, prompted a collapse of the London-listed firm’s stock value.

Thanks for posting the news about Novo. I’ve been waiting for the stock to dip below $3 (according to Morris Hubbart; his charts say $2.50-$2.60 would be a good buying range). Also, a large amount of stock, from a previous PP, is freed up right after Labor Day. Its hard to ignore a 35% investment by NEM, and now a sizeable investment by KL. They’ll have close to $70 million in cash on hand. A very interesting theory about the old rock in Western Australia (Witswatersrand) being washed over by acidic seas that can dissolve gold. The CEO Hennigh has had this theory since the early 1990’s. If he’s right, this stock has HUGE upside……
