What’s as bad as watching a hurricane in TV

Having to watch Shepard hosting it.

Why stocks will not go down much or for long for the rest of ours lives.

Posted by Richard640 @ 15:23 on September 11, 2017

A booming stock market is required for our entire economy to work.  10% of the Federal Budget each year comes from capital gains taxes alone.  There’s more than twice as much wealth concentrated in the stock market (30 trillion) than in home equity (14 trillion).  Every Pension, 401k, IRA, 529, and Index fund is depenedant on rising stock prices.   That’s why it’s rigged to go up no matter the weather or the politics or the economy.

S&P’s Irma-Relief Rally Erases “Fire & Fury” Losses

“Fire & Fury”, Gary Cohn concerns, North Korean missiles over Japan, Hurricane Harvey, North Korean Hydrogen Bomb tests, and now Hurricane Irma… and stocks are higher…

As Bob Pisani said “it just does not want to go down”

Glad Florida is okay. Hope Alex is too. This hurricane collectively seems to have flooded whole state from one degree or another. The hype in that half the state would be devistated by media has displaced a lot of people. Then comes the next and people won’t believe them. The good thing is talking shelter with that wind, debris, fallen trees and flooding most likely saved a whole lot of lives.

Thanks Richard and Mike

For letting us know they are alright. I believe they were in a county which has entrance of the ocean from the area that was flooded and would have been hard for emergency to get to them and no power. Prayers to both of them and hope they can keep fighting. I’d send them a pizza ” all else fails around ya order pizza” but don’t know where there at or what they like. What the heck ya know.

Sorry to hear about Wanka..will keep him in my prayers..we need all the good guys we can get!

Glad to hear that Wanka has escaped the storm. My prayers are with him and his family.

I got this e-mail from Wankas nephew

Richard,
I’m having trouble posting on the Oasis forum but I know several members have been asking about Wanka.  He and my Aunt did evacuate safely and are currently at a shelter in North Miami.  I believe his home in Key Haven was spared the brunt of the storm and I really don’t know of wind damages or water issues at this point. Unfortunately Uncle John is not doing well as most members are aware from his lack of posting. He continues to fight the COPD as well as other issues.  At this point it really has become a true fight.  Hopefully he can pull thru this whole ordeal as he has in the past but sadly it doesn’t look so good this time. Please update the Oasis family and ask they keep Uncle John and my Aunt Noemi in their thoughts.  Thanks. MIKE

No I don’t own either of those. Congrats to the Richmont holders.

Why won’t Gary Cohen go quietly?

On any given day in the Trump administration, it’s nearly impossible to tell who’s up and who’s down. But the longer term trends are clear. For months there were rumors about the imminent demise of the dynamic trio of Reince Priebus, Steve Bannon, and Sean Spicer, and for a long time, despite the rumors, nothing happened. But then the Mooch happened, with an apparent mandate to get rid of the nationalist wing of the White House and, in kamikaze fashion, he was able to accomplish the mission along with his own self-immolation. When you start hearing in the media you’ve pissed off Donald Trump, that is probably a leading indication that a bullet with your name on it is in his chamber.

That, I dare say, is precisely the position that my old friend Gary Cohn now finds himself inhabiting. He is in Trump purgatory. Two weeks after he called out the president in the Financial Times for his ill-considered remarks in the aftermath of Charlottesville, Cohn has not yet been fired. Quite the contrary, in fact. He is acting as if his days in the White House aren’t numbered. In a nifty bit of shadowboxing, Cohn seems to be actively engaged in working with Congress to draft a tax bill designed to lower tax rates and give another windfall to the top 1 percent.

Do you own any AGI? I do. I wish they would give share holders advance notice when they decide to buy out another company. AGI was one of my favorites. Very annoying to see it drop 14%.

Eldorado Gold Announces Amended Investment Plans in Greece

VANCOUVER, Sept. 11, 2017 /CNW/ – Eldorado Gold Corporation (“Eldorado” or the “Company”) today announces plans to suspend investment at its operating mines, development projects and exploration assets in Greece.

Despite repeated attempts by Eldorado and its Greek subsidiary, Hellas Gold, to engage constructively with the Greek government, the Ministry of Energy and Environment (the “Ministry”) and other government agencies, delays continue in issuing routine permits and licences for the construction and development of the Skouries and Olympias projects in Halkidiki, northern Greece. These permitting delays have negatively impacted Eldorado’s project schedules and costs, ultimately hindering the Company’s ability to effectively advance development and operation of these assets.

With the exception of a care and maintenance program and necessary environmental safeguarding costs, Eldorado and its Board of Directors have decided that under present conditions no additional investment will be made into the Kassandra Mines (Olympias, Skouries, Stratoni) in Halkidiki, the Perama Hill and Sapes projects in Thrace, and any exploration activity in the country. Funds that were budgeted to be invested into community spending and infrastructure development will be phased out. Similarly, tax revenues at the municipal, regional and national levels will also be affected.

More worse news

Posted by goldielocks @ 3:31 on September 11, 2017

As the waves and winds began easing Sunday, residents of Old Town emerged not knowing exactly what to expect from the most powerful hurricane to strike the Florida Keys in more than a half century.
But all in all, many in Key West seemed relieved that the damage from a Category 4 Irma was not much, much worse. “It’s not as bad as we thought,” said Robert Phillips. “It’s just trees and foliage and cars.”
That wasn’t the case across the rest of the 110-mile island chain. In the Middle and Upper Keys — on the more savage right side of Irma’s 130-mph winds — the damage and storm surge appeared far more severe. Monroe County emergency managers hinted that they feared there could be fatalities. Emergency Management Director Martin Senterfitt, calling the destruction a looming “humanitarian crisis,” said a huge airborne relief mission mounted by the Air Force and Air National Guard was already in the works.

Well stay safe. Looks like it’s to be over soon and they want to get power back soon as safe. That’s got to be a extra dangerous job with all that water.

Ororeef Video: I don’t think they notice these swells. I saw one same place live where some guy sat down with his back to the ocean and behind him was a wave coming in and got him going over his head. He decided that was a bad idea and left.
You know the old Hawaiian saying, Never turn your back to the Ocean.
