Maybe a good omen

good-omen

This was a double rainbow just before sunset here , about six hours ago. By the time I went inside to get my camera , the second rainbow was gone , and the primary had weakened in color , but still visible.

I have been away for about twelve hours , answering calls and email

…and making sure that nothing was left outside that could become a missile . My biggest concern is that my home is surrounded on three sides by Oaks. Some are what are called Water Oak – tall ( 50 to 80 feet ), slender , many leaning toward sunlight ( and over my roof ), and with notoriously poor root systems .

Apparently the storm scrubbed off a lot of energy along the north side of Cuba . It would appear that the storm diameter was reduced as a result . We were definitely on the fringes twelve hours ago , but now (between Orlando and Daytona) is eerily still. The proverbial lull before the storm . No wind , no rain !

Praying for Wanka and all those along the South and West coasts . The last I saw , the storm center was only moving at about 6 mph toward Key West , in very warm water , so strength will build again .

The European storm track model of two days ago seems to have been more accurate that many others . While ours were projecting paths up the FL peninsula and up the Atlantic coast , that one stood out as projecting a path up the Gulf coast .
