Datta Phuge shot to the limelight in 2013 when he bought a shirt made with more than 3kg of gold and worth $250,000 (£186,943).

A money lender based in western Pune, Mr Phuge was called “the gold man”.

Four persons have been detained for questioning. Police suspect a dispute over money have led to the murder.

The police said some 12 people attacked Mr Phuge, 48, in Pune on Thursday night.

One of the suspects had invited Mr Phuge and his 22-year-old son to celebrate a birthday at an open ground in Dighi area when the men attacked him with stones and a sharp weapon.

Police said the son had witnessed his father being murdered and had been spared by the alleged killers.

“However, we are investigating how Mr Phuge reached the open ground where he was murdered,” Dighi police station inspector Navnath Ghogare told the Press Trust of India news agency.

Last night’s attack in Nice was 3 months and 22 days after the the Brussels attack March 23rd of this year.

Hours after a truck ran down and killed at least 80 people and injured scores more in Nice, Newt Gingrich called for a Muslim test.

In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Gingrich said that every person “who is of a Muslim background” in America should face a test.

“We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported,” he told host Sean Hannity. “Sharia is incompatible with western civilization. Modern Muslims, who have given up Sharia — glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door.”

Further, the act of visiting a website that favors ISIS or al Qaeda should be a felony, Gingrich declared.

“We are behaving as though we are insane,” he railed. “We’re like sheep wondering why the wolves keep killing us.”

He also called for mosques to be monitored for signs of jihadists. “Let me be very clear. You have to monitor the mosques,” Gingrich said. “I mean if you’re not prepared to monitor the mosques, this whole thing is a joke. Where do you think the primary source of recruitment is? Where do you think the primary place of indoctrination is?”

And Gingrich also suggested that not only should every “internet-based source of terrorism” be shut down. If that’s not possible, he called for more drastic action.

“We should destroy them with kinetic power, using various weapons starting with predators and frankly just killing them,” he said.

This is the first picture of an ID card bearing the name of a terrorist who killed at least 84 people celebrating Bastille Day in France.

Police found documents belonging to Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old French man of Tunisian descent, in the truck which ploughed through crowds in Nice.

Anti-terror officers then raided his home and arrested his ex-wife is in connection with the terror attack.

Bouhlel was known to officers for common law crimes such as theft and violence but reportedly had no known connections with extremists.

Investigating sources said his last appearance in court was as recently as March, when he was found guilty of violent conduct.

As reported by Nice Matin, he worked as a delivery driver.”

Zimbabwe fails to pay army on time for second month: sources

Zimbabwe has failed to pay the army on time for the second straight month, military sources said on Friday, underscoring the precarious financial position of President Robert Mugabe’s government as it faces rare popular protests.

The military is paid on the 14th of the month but soldiers and air force officers said they were still to receive their pay and had not been given an alternative date.

The delays are likely to fuel tensions in the southern African nation, which has been hit by drought, a drop in mineral prices and chronic cash shortages – all factors behind this month’s popular protests against 92-year-old Mugabe.

“The mood is sour among the rank and file. Life is tough and we are not being told by our superiors whether we will be paid this month or not,” one private told Reuters.

One colonel said even senior officers were in the dark about when their pay was going to arrive.

“We have not been informed of new pay dates by the ministry of finance,” the colonel, who declined to be named, said.

There was no comment from finance minister Patrick Chinamasa, who was attending an African Union summit in Rwanda with Mugabe. Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Alphios Makotore could not be reached for comment.
