A lot of side tracks on this end for me. I guess the blue states the not being able to defend yourself is being taught by teachers who can’t teach to children too. My youngest grand son who a day after his 11 birthday was riding home from a store where he bought a few snacks and drink with his birthday money. Conservative kid didn’t wasn’t to spend it all at once.
Two bully’s came by one in middle school by his description blocked him on their bikes and then proceeded to attack him intending on pushing him off his bike and taking his bag. He gave him the bag but not the way they wanted and he held his own with one while the other older one was kicking his bike bending the rim. He had almost a mile to carry the bike home when I get a call from a grandma of one of his friends who also works at his school. She put the bike in her car took him home. His moms working two weeks straight and needs the money after she got hit buy a car. His dad talked to the parent of one didn’t get the info of the one who vandalized his bike. That grandma was livid said something should be done to she’s going to tell the school. I told her it won’t do any good with them. I think their afraid to confront parents like some of these people are.
Well get this even when it didn’t happen on school grounds. The kid who attacked him told the school he hurt him and threw a bag at him and told him he’s in trouble. Throwing the bag was against the rules. I never even taught him that because of what you have to do next cuz he was too young but I guess not anymore. No one ever gave these two teachers a memo that these bullies and thugs don’t play by the rules or they wouldn’t of been there in the first place. They just gave that other kid and his friend a message they can get away with it. Only in California. Now I’m deciding if I go over there and ask this teacher who’s rules or if these walking victims are worth the time. They are a law suit waiting to happen as not the first time but Grandson is fine just his bike. That and a few medical emergency’s including a cat who drank some pine sol which is very toxic and thought of a eye dropper to get things down her,, not my cat.
Just something in the air though. The tech stocks held the market up but now what? Frankly I don’t care right now.

I remember that missile alert but wasn’t clear in what reasons that caused it. This is worse than a error with caution or what ever happened with that. It did bring to mind that they didn’t have a plan for that or shelters with filter systems either being on a island. They could also use them fir fires.
If they knew about the winds and the fire was on the other side of the mountain from what I hear they should have warned people to be on alert and have a grab bag ready their pets too and ready to go. I guess with pets they’d have to have a neighbor to help if they had to work and something happened they couldn’t get back or a shelter in another part of the island. Same with kids and schools should have a plan to get them out on buses and a destination and not wait for them to be picked up.
Once that fire started to head up that mountain on the other side because of the winds they should of called to evacuate. They had no coordinated watch system. Not only sirens but those choppers could of been watching and notified by speakers by air starting with those closest to the fire to get out. It’s like they put no thought into it and and like the Paradise fire only two roads out. There there always gonna be somebody blocking the road and they would need police and what ever they got there to keep the traffic moving. Paradise they said the fire moved as fast as a football field a second.
Yes they only had to roads but no it wasn’t the only reason. And HELLO they have a big ocean there and a lot of boats. They could have a 3 tier system or even 4 tier with air.
People died because frankly they were too lazy to put up a system of all places on a Island with only two roads out and still no warning system. Sound like they need a fire wall expert because of the speed it comes down that mountain.
When I saw that fire come down like a jet as a school kid it was about a football and a half length clearing to where I was standing, but where I was standing there was a brush and it was on fire. I didn’t even see how it got there it was so fast not even embers but then just ash started falling and a tumble weed on fire running for help after I heard what I heard from those fire hot shots in trouble. Being a mountain person to you can see what you hear and knew some were already dead.
Clearings stoped the fire from traveling straight to the homes behind me and kept it traveling straight to where I was in that manner but still embers or something started the fire next to me. I’m guessing sprinkler system starting up or watered landscape and windows closed from there would of slowed it down giving people more time.
I think they need advice from fire and communication experts but should have already had it.

They never heard the sirens because someone didn’t bother to use them. Instead someone used Mobil alerts like everyone is going to be by their phone or TV and not even knowing if communication was still working.

Hawaii has what officials have previously touted as the world’s largest all-hazard public warning system, which includes a network of over 400 sirens across the state’s many islands that can help alert residents and visitors to various kinds of threats.
The head of the state’s emergency management agency, Adam Weintraub, told the Associated Press this week that records do not suggest that those sirens were triggered on Maui on Tuesday.
Instead, Mr Weintraub said, officials used emergency alerts sent to mobile phones as well as TVs and radio stations.
In the wake of the fire, many residents have reported not seeing these, prompting speculation that they came only after widespread power and communications outages occurred on Maui.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday night, fire chief Bradford Ventura said that the flames – propelled by strong winds – had moved so fast that notifying residents became “nearly impossible”.
He added that the first neighbourhoods of Lahaina struck by the blaze “were basically self-evacuating with fairly little notice”.
On NBC’s Today programme, Mayor Bissen said that the fast-moving flames created an “impossible situation” because “everything happened so quickly”.
While he declined to comment on whether warning systems functioned or not, Mr Bissen said that 2,100 people were in shelters by Tuesday night.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Hawaii governor Josh Green said that destruction in Lahaina was “very difficult to anticipate, especially because it came in the night with high winds”.
