The reaction is odd to me. Yes, the usual hit on pm’s that normal, but rates came down? The dollar stayed pretty mush where it was, up a little.

I guess I’d think that rates would soar, and the dollar explode higher?

But of course, the main thing is that the SM came all the way back, and even Bitcoin is coming back a bit.

For us, it appears that the nightmare will continue.

Oil is down near 2%, below $84. Must be a lot of frustrated longs wondering why oil isn’t soaring, welcome to an average day in the pm markets fellas. Nothing makes sense does it?

Believe it or not Bitcoin is down a $200 and change.

Finally our pm’s are up a little but have been fading for the last couple hours. Gold futures got back above $2K and spot above $1990, but faded from there. Headwinds with rates and the buck.

NEM came out with a miss on earnings but is flat in the premarket. It’s early though, so there’s plenty of time to take it to the woodshed, but looks like maybe yesterday was telegraphed.

GDP comes out in an hour. Always seems to move the market. Consensus is 4.2% quarter over quarter. Seems lofty to me, durable goods also come out with an expectation of 0. I’d think the SM is going to want to see weak numbers, but who knows what the Gov’t. will give them?

it’s nice to see the Nasdaq getting rocked, unfortunately, it’s pm stocks that trade trade with the Nasdaq.

I remember back in either 2006 or 2011 Fink saying he thought the best assets to buy were the gold mining stocks. The HUI was at the highs above 600. It was all downhill from there.

I can see it on an intraday chart. It started at 11:02 and it ended at 11:03. Maybe it was one of those fake big sell orders that got reversed, before it got closed. We’ve read about that in the news. Supposedly its against the law, and some traders got in trouble doing that.

They’ve been on NEM since the pre market. Either they’re going to miss big, or someone is shaking the tree knowing they’ll be OK.

Regardless, NEM is a tool to keep the HUI in check. I notice they seem to use GFI often as well.
