Per your conversation a bit ago … When I was in high school one of my friend’s father had a generic type bolt action hunting rifle with a symmetrical bulge in the barrel towards end of the muzzle. The father had loaned it to a friend to go hunting and the friend had gotten snow in the end of the barrel and then fired it. He was lucky it didn’t explode in his face! Yes there’s a lot to consider in a bad situation. I know back when I was in a quake and just a teen but able to multitask I could move pretty fast fast from one place to another to help and could see how fast looting, panic and unrest can break out.
Basically soon as the quake stops shaking, just that fast secure your perimeter but get out at first till you know it won’t collapse,
if able cuz in quakes windows break , doors break, walls collapse immediately. You will be distracted by any injured or trapped too.
First and immediately any local opportunists, then before main roads are blocked less you live there they could be coming from anywhere.
Would be good if you have good neighbors and have blockades or your own neighborhood watch scenario.
If not you have to think about what you would do or where you’d go.

What you said in your reply to me makes it clearer as to why it might not be so easy to replace. That’s a different situation from mine. I guess in a worst case scenario, one would use whatever one had and hope it worked.

I keep getting conflicting advice of those have used ammo after getting wet and more concern if it was under water and not working not exploding and the seal process for that type of ammo. I noticed they changed another one the 12 gauge from paper to plastic and though that was strange with their environment laws.
Its not the cost but as you say if it works. Although being in the metals I think about disposing the copper and other uses for it even medicinal.
At the time it happened Calif was having double trouble with both anti gun Obama and Gov Brown that even want background checks buying ammo making it more expensive just to hunt once a year or target practice for people.
Since this gun survived through getting all guns including guns over 50 yrs old was changed to all gun sales but well cared for that can shoot anyways registered. So after that went in effect and now ammo I didn’t want to bring any attention to it where otherwise you can use cash.
As we know if they go after them the criminals will still have them including gov criminals. What got my particular attention on that was the hurricane in Katrina and all the crime and chaos they were even violently taking guns calling martial law and taking law abiding peoples registered guns.
Around that same time I talked to a person who just got back from there who said that couldn’t get the electric back up in certain area because people “ and you know they weren’t the law abiding” shooting at them. I asked who would shoot at you for helping them and he said the hell if I know lol Even nurses were being attacked. Then a video came out showing plain close cops wanting a little older lady maybe 80 plus if I remember maybe 5 Ft and 80-90 pounds standing up for her second amendment rights and at a time she needed it probably more than any other time in her life and they rushed this tiny woman injuring her. Attacking her while all these criminals running around. Like she’s gonna be running around looting and shooting or even able to. If it wasn’t real it would be hilarious backwardness.
I’m going to have to check wether martial law can violate the 4 th amendment and just lock the doors. Maybe that’s why they were plain cloths or just don’t be there.
