You are absolutely correct. Western bankers are still in charge of PMs pricing via the futures market(s).
The slow logarithmic grind towards them losing control of the beachball(s) being held under water is still in progress.
This will change soon however, once Comex specs contract enough, combined with a surprised and cornered Fed faced with falling asset prices they must arrest going into the election – if they are to keep their masters happy.
These are people you do not want to disappoint if you like breathing, so expect some fireworks once gold tests the break above $2100. (Nobody knows how low it will go in coming weeks.)
Gold needs to break above $2700 to signal the futures markets are no longer in control of pricing – the last trendline related resistance in the charts.
Patience should prove wise no later than early next year as the markets, deficits, etc. continue to signal wholesale economic collapse.
There is no hiding it anymore.

I’d like for nothing more than that to be true. It just seems like since that Friday when they crushed the rally, we’ve gone back to the same old patterns and the relentless buyer just disappeared.
So, the pattern here will be that they lean on these meager gains over this hour going into the announcement. After that, we’ll see what he says.
The shares just have nothing in them.

Unbeknownst to me, there is a Fed meeting today
Powell has a big problem. No doubt he’s seeing the economic ruin he’s created and the horror of stagflation. Now though, he may be looking at a SM meltdown if he utters the wrong words. The SM has been the only thing left standing, if he loses it then he has even bigger problems with Gov’t. pensions and bonds.
I think he has to sound dovish, blaming the weak economy. Wondering if that may be why they crushed pm’s yesterday, knowing full well that a dovish hint creams the dollar and pm’s fly. Course, they’ll throw the kitchen sink at pm’s again after the announcement, whether today or tomorrow, but the cat will be out of the bag.
There’s a lot of eco data today, not the least of which is the ISM Manufacturing Index which is expected to show contraction. We’ll see if they lie.
BTW – oil taking a hit this am down a couple %

So, I guess it will be the same old, whatever the SM goes down we’ll go down twice as much. HUI goes down 5%, while the SM goes down 2%. With pm prices where they’ve been, that should not be happening, but it always does.
