The battle for the $33’s isn’t over just yet.
Probably a stretch to say that, but Gold is up $18 and silver $.10, so at least no continuation from yesterday. PM shares are acting accordingly, modestly higher.
Everything else is pretty flat, including the dollar. Rates up a couple bips.
No eco data of concern today, it’s just pm’s on their own vs. the manipulators. Given that we started to strengthen about an hour ago, I like our odds.

Basel III doesn’t require banks to hold gold. It just means if they decide to, it’s regarded as a tier 1 asset for liquidity purposes, same as cash.
Much more significant was China allowing insurance companies to hold 1% of their assets as gold. Now, whilst ‘allowing’ doesn’t carry the same weight as ‘recommended’ (i.e. buy 1% gold right now) I’m sure that executives of the ten companies selected for the pilot scheme will suffer a drop in their social credit rating unless they cheerfully participate.
That’s kinda what happened pre 2008 when more people were continuing to buy the shares rather that the pizz after the early 2000s as it moved up. During the crash the pizz held up better than the shares.
Maybe we’ll know more after the tariffs get straightened out.
That’s what I continue to hope for, these shares telegraphing a big move in the metals.

I have no idea either other than crime is in any country. Apparently Mexico and I think the demos enabled crime to grow is the worst and most dangerous plus tourist the most targeted.
The coin thing I feel is a sales strategy. They now put limited editions on anything and people are still attracted to it as value. The dollar printing, less value, a computer generated ledger with a name on it limited, more value.
I remember back in the 80 s they came out with a doll called the Cabbage Patch Doll. First thing I thought was these a ugly dolls. The kind that has to grow on you with unusually large heads and maybe where they got their name. Then they gave them each a individual birth certificate and a name and announced only a limited amount will be available. All of a sudden everybody wanted that doll. My daughter got one as a gift and although I could make doll cloths myself for her dolls they had a sale on doll cloths for that doll. I decided I’d pick her up a outfit or two for that doll. I went early and I saw all these people including grandmas lined up. I asked someone what are they waiting for? They apparently had a limited number of those dolls for sale first come first served. I passed them up and went to see what was on sale put one outfit in my cart. It wasn’t long before the feeding frenzy started and all these’s women were looking at the doll cloths. One woman walked up to me pointing to the doll outfit I had in my cart and said, ” Do you want that?” I missed the opportunity to say 10 bucks and I don’t not to be too greedy. I never saw anything like it.
