In January and March of this year, hedge fund billionaire James Simons wrote two checks to Hillary’s SuperPac, Priorities USA, for $3.5 million each, matching the $7 million Soros has also contributed. Simons is the founder of hedge fund Renaissance Technologies and also runs a so-called “family office” where he manages his own wealth, known as Euclidean Capital. We could not find Simons in the ICIJ database but we did find his hedge fund, Renaissance Technologies, in the Wall Street On Parade database – and not in a good way.

Renaissance Technologies became the target of an investigation by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, culminating in a charge of avoiding $6.8 billion (that’s billion with a “b”) in taxes. The Senate Subcommittee took testimony at the July 22, 2014 hearing from Steven M. Rosenthal, a Senior Fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center in Washington, D.C. Rosenthal explained the scheme as follows: 

“I have been asked to evaluate the character of the gains of the Renaissance hedge funds based on my review of materials provided by the Subcommittee staff. The Renaissance hedge funds traded often, more than 100,000 trades a day, more than 30 million trades a year, and they traded quickly, turning over their portfolio almost completely every 3 months. Because the hedge funds adopted a short-term trading strategy, we would expect their gains to be short term. But the hedge funds, with the help of Barclays and Deutsche Bank, wrapped derivatives around their trading strategy in order to transform their short- term trading profits into long-term capital gains. This tax alchemy purported to reduce the tax rate on the gains from 35 percent to 15 percent and reduced taxes paid to the Treasury by approximately $6.8 billion. I believe the hedge funds stretched the derivatives beyond recognition for tax purposes and mischaracterized their profits as long-term gains.”

Forbes currently puts James Simons’ net worth at $15.5 billion, making his political donations a very cheap investment in the overall scheme of things.

Hillary Clinton was asked about the revelations in the Panama Papers. According to the Guardian newspaper, Clinton responded:

“Some of this behavior is clearly against the law and anyone who violates the law anywhere should be held accountable. But it is also scandalous how much is actually legal. That is why last year I proposed a plan to shut down the so-called private tax-system for the mega wealthy. I remember clearly when the invisible shadow gov’t started Global Socialism. After the Dollar Gold de-peg around 1971, I remember the song by John Lenin, “Imagine”, a political message song. “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one”. First they took our Gold at $35 until ’71, and after that rates went up to 21% by 1980 and exported our jobs and imported people and products.

He got that right, a dreamer. I knew even before that back, what they (whoever they are) what was coming. A whole generation of entry level baby boomers did ok until after 1975. Little by little they started it so no one would notice. Like all the stupid gun laws.

There was only one way to fight against Globalization, DON’T do anything TPTB want you to do. Like buying imports and hiring refugees. Do it and MORE will come. They did and they came. Pretty much only the street wise people knew what was going on.

And the terrorist attacks? I remember when that started way back after the war, when they (whoever they are) created a European Colony in the Middle East. None of the natives wanted it, it was forced on them, and started acting out soon after.

Currently, my family and I are taking a cruise outside the United States. The staff members are from all over the world.

Last night, we had a wonderful waiter who served an outstanding dinner. He is a citizen of Turkey. I held a short Q&A session which I believe is worth sharing with you.
DML: Where in Turkey are you from?
WAITER: Istanbul. Have you ever been to Istanbul?

DML: No. And I don’t think I’ll be going any time soon — you have a growing problem with terror cells — do you not?
WAITER: Yes, we do. Istanbul used to be one of the best places on earth. It is no longer that way.

DML: Because of the terror?
WAITER: Yes, and now we are getting so many Syrian refugees — these are young men who are animals.

DML: Really? How would you describe these animals?
WAITER: They don’t care about life. They are criminals. For some reason my country accepts these people. We are supposed to take in only educated people, but we don’t. We take in people with no education. We take in young men with no skills and no chance to get work. They join ISIS because ISIS will pay them.

DML: Is it getting worse?
WAITER: It’s getting worse each day I am told. I am supposed to work on this ship for months at a time and then return home. Not this time. I have to return home early — I am returning home soon because I have to help move my sister and mother.

DML: Why?
WAITER: We live in a nice apartment in a beautiful part of Istanbul. But now 8 Syrian refugees moved into our complex last week and more are coming. They are bad people. My mother and sister are very scared. I have to move my family away from them. Everyone is doing same thing. Everyone wants to move away from these bad people.

DML: Where will you go?
WAITER: I don’t know because there is no place without refugees. They are everywhere.

DML: They are coming to America now.
WAITER: Yes, I know. America does not want these people. They are evil. They hate women. They hate all people who do not think like them. I will probably have to rejoin the military when I return home.

DML: What do you mean?
WAITER: I was in the military a few years ago. Those of us who left may have to return because it’s getting so bad.

is here again in the florida panhandle.  a sunday evening bolt from the blue fried the motor on my well pump.  such is life.  i got it replaced this morning.  ten years on a $500 pump.  that’s fifty bucks a year for unlimited cool, clear water direct from the floridan aquifer.  nestle and several other brands use the same aquifer for their bottled water.  i get it for free.  well, the electricity to pump it costs something and i have to put in a new pump every few years.  i checked with some friends who get piped, chlorinated water.  they pay forty bucks a month.  i am sooooo glad i don’t live in a city.
