Lundin Gold Receives Notice of Assessment Regarding Sovereign Adjustment
VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 8, 2026 /CNW/ — Lundin Gold Inc. (TSX: LUG; Nasdaq Stockholm: LUG; OTCQX: LUGDF) (“Lundin Gold” or the “Company”) reports that it has received a notice of assessment from Ecuador’s tax authority, the Servicio de Rentas Internas (“SRI”), in respect of sovereign adjustment for the 2023 fiscal year. The assessment for the 2023 fiscal year indicates a proposed amount payable of $73 million plus potential fines and penalties of $81 million for a total amount of $154 million, excluding interest.
Lundin Gold believes the assessment is not consistent with the sovereign adjustment calculation as set out in the Exploitation Agreement with the Government of Ecuador, which in combination with the Investment Protection Agreement, establish the applicable fiscal, legal, tax, and dispute resolution framework for the Fruta del Norte (“FDN”) operation.

Actually, the assault started 20 or so minutes before the Crimex opened. Silver once again the most important metal on the planet to keep under wraps.
No real surprise. We still have some gains that will probably hold until 9 am EST.

Touch and go this am
We were sailing along nicely overnight, but then reality seemed to set in on the SM futures, and that forced the dollar up and rates just above 4.8%. Oil jumped a bit and is now up better than $2 and over $95. Sure seems that it’s on its way back toward $120 and the Hampton’s crowd may be thinking that $120 oil might not be so good for the inflation and proceeded to sell the SM and treasuries.
Course, it’s a complete impossibility for the SM to be sold without pm’s being sold too, so they’ve cut silver’s gains by better than half. Gold is faring a little better only losing about a third at this point. I’m surprised it’s not worse, but we’ve yet to see what the Crimex has in store for us. PM shares are posting modest gains at this point, so there’s that.

BREAKING: Iran’s IRGC warns all crews serving US oil tankers in and around the ports of Kuwait and Bahrain to “immediately leave their vessels whether at anchor or at the ports” because the tankers will be targeted, citing the US strikes on several Iranian oil tankers, in a statement just released.
The IRGC names Kuwait and Bahrain as hosts and partners of the US military in the strikes, widening the imminent response from the US bases Iran named an hour ago to US shipping sitting in two Gulf states’ ports.

BREAKING: The US military is currently striking Iranian oil tankers near Kharg Island, a US official says, with Iranian media reporting multiple loud explosions heard near Kharg in the past minutes.
Initial reports from Iran say the US struck 2 more oil tankers near Jask, +800km southeast from Kharg.
Iran warns that any attack on Iranian oil tankers will result in US bases in the region being targeted shortly.

The shipping lane yeah that’s true. We can only hope. Those so called leaders over in Europe remind me of crooked managers and referees or umpires who’ve been paid off to make the wrong calls against the players, to throw the game in this case the citizens, to rob them of their country and everything it stands for. They need to get rid of them, they made themselves insignificant and not just useless but detrimental. If their own country can’t even trust them who can?

Yes that should help the peace process. I think few ordinary citizens in the EU support further war.
If Russian oil and gas come back on the market that should take some pressure off of the strait of Hormuz.
