It is TOO MUCH isn’t it!
ferrett @ 16:39
All these restrictions on what you can do would drive me crazy! Sounds like the unions have really got the system in their pocket. I don’t think Americans would stand for these rules but I’d guess it was a creeping sort of restrictions a little here and a little there continuously. You can save a lot of money doing repairs yourself! I hate having to call in a plumber! đ
Cheers
Maddog @ 13:56
I gotta say Maddog that a lot of your politicians should be in jail … same as here but at least we have some people with sense currently in office. That would be an earth shaking change if the US and EU had a split. Almost seems like they are forcing it with the unrealistic peace demands re: Ukraine. I agree it sure does look like they don’t want peace. What to do!
Cheers
Maddog @ 13:50
That regulation in GB is a friggin monster … like your example, it destroys free enterprise. They are going to kill the economy and that will give them the excuse to go full socialism. I forget who said it but “The power to tax is the power to destroy.” More true now than ever!

Re: Dolly Varden and Contango Gold … I think you’re right on the money. The two companies have a lot of synergies between them and the whole should end up greater than the parts. I’ve thought about buying some more as well!
Cheers
But it is over reach when the EU do it?
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/us-ask-visitors-5-years-social-media-history-under-new-plan
The list also includes;
- Telephone numbers used in the last five years
- Email addresses used in the last 10 years
- IP addresses and metadata from electronically submitted photos
- Biometrics – including facial, fingerprint, DNA and Iris data
- Information about one’s family – including  names, telephone numbers, dates of birth, places of birth and residences.
the Trump administration wants to evaluate social media histories to “understand the personâs view of general politics around the world.”
And, you can only apply from a phone app. Not a website. I’m sure once they realise what a roaring success this is for “understanding the person’s view of general politics around the world” that it will be extended to the general population too. Maybe not by this administration, but eventually.
Maddog, buygold, there will be substitutes.
Such as C11600;
“Alloy Grade UNS: C11600 is a high-quality copper alloy with a small percentage of silver, known for its enhanced electrical and thermal conductivity. The addition of silver improves the alloy’s strength, resistance to oxidation, and overall durability, making it an excellent choice for demanding applications in electrical, electronics, and telecommunication industries. C11600 offers excellent formability and is often used in connectors, terminals, and other components that require both high conductivity and long-term reliability. Its unique combination of copper and silver ensures superior performance in environments where electrical efficiency and resistance to corrosion are critical.”
Silver only has a small benefit over copper for resistivity and conductivity, and is 15% heavier. You can be sure that metallurgists all over will be experimenting to find an alloy closer to silver than we currently have. Even so, silver will eventually price itself out of the market.
Or there will be technology that removes the needs for contacts/switches as we now know them. They really are an anachronism in today’s technological world.
Maddog – yeah
they sold down the shares into the close. Typical scum reaction. If they can’t get the metals they’ll get the shares, anything to keep enthusiasm from coming into the entire sector. AEM was particularly weak all day, yesterday as well, putting pressure on the HUI/GDX.
$62 is about here. $64 tomorrow?
ipso 11.11, it’s all jobs for the boys.
There are many restrictions on building repairs in Oz. You can still change a light bulb, but if you want to change the fitting, or a socket on the wall, or a tap, install airconditioning etc etc you need to use a licensed electrician, plumber, aircon expert. Any job over $10,000 (value, i.e. including labour) has to be done by a licensed builder, e.g. kitchen or bathroom renovation. It is a long standing scam by the unions forcing government to implement all this in the name of safety. The quality is often so bad that a fifteen year old could do better. If anything goes wrong, you only start the arbitration process once if you want to keep your soul.
I can totally rebuild the brakes on a truck without a licence; pistons, rubbers, hoses, seals etc. But not change a tap washer. Money for the boys. Chris should find a local yobbo who will heave a brick through his window for a tenner destroying at least three panes and leave it to the insurers.
treefrog
I think it is Powells comments as Bonds eased and the SM jumped all at same time….sounds like we get easy money/QE to stick a Turbo Charger onto the PM bull…..
Well shux
I guess we don’t have to wait until tonight. It appears they were unable to obtain the desired waterfall and have been forced to cover.
Thing of beauty.

somebody big took their foot off of silver’s neck.

Re robotics and silver….lightness and conductivity…can’t beat it…only Gold can…..
from Grok
Electrical contacts and connectors
Silver has the highest electrical conductivity of any metal (even better than copper). Robot joints, sensors, switches, and high-reliability connectors often use silver or silver-plated contacts to minimize resistance and heat buildup.
Soldering
Most electronic circuit boards in robots (including the âbrainâ controllers) are assembled with silver-containing solder alloys (e.g., SAC305: tinâsilverâcopper). Silver improves strength, fatigue resistance, and conductivity compared to old tinâlead solder vs. traditional tin-lead solder.
Sensors
Many MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) accelerometers, gyroscopes, and pressure sensors in robots use tiny silver or silver-alloy components.
Some high-end tactile or force sensors use silver nanowires or silver paste for flexibility and sensitivity.
Motors and actuators
High-performance brushed DC motors and some slip rings use silverâgraphite brushes because silver dramatically reduces electrical noise and wear compared to copperâgraphite.
Batteries
While lithium-ion cells themselves donât contain much silver, many battery management systems (BMS) and high-current connectors in robotic platforms are silver-plated.
Antimicrobial coatings (in some service/humanoid robots)
A few healthcare or food-service robots (and some consumer robots like certain vacuum models) use silver nanoparticle coatings on touch surfaces because silver is naturally antimicrobial.
Reflective surfaces / mirrors in LIDARs and optics
Some precision optical systems in robotic vision or laser scanners use silver coatings because silver has the highest reflectivity across visible and near-infrared light.
In short:
You wonât see big shiny silver blocks in most robots, but if you look at the microscopic or high-performance level, silver is everywhere in modern robotics for its unbeatable combination of conductivity, reflectivity, solderability, and (in small amounts) antimicrobial properties.
A single advanced humanoid robot can easily contain several grams to tens of grams of silver, mostly in electronics and contacts. Industrial robots and drones often contain even more in their control systems and power distribution.
Too funny
They are throwing all sorts of paper at the metals right now. Wholesale dumps not worried about price, not massive dumps, just consistent. So obvious, for what? To show that the Fed is in control? The dollar and bonds are fine? Pure comedy.
That’s OK. China and India will thank them tonight.
Maddog
I didn’t know robotics even used silver. You’re right, that might be the most compelling reason to buy silver and the miners.
The Captain’s article about the miners is spot on. They haven’t even really begun to roar, they are just ridiculously cheap right now.
Looks like we might have to wait until tomorrow before we see the pm’s start to run on the news of a rate cut and what appears to be the beginning of QE.
‘Most Divided’ Fed In 37 Years Cuts Rates; Restarts Balance Sheet Growth
…3 dissents, downside risks to employment rose, Fed will begin buying T-Bills on Dec 12th…
Buygold
On Fed day, itâs a given that the scum will have everything under wraps and in full control.
Did the Fed just cut?
Looked like it at first as pmâs came roaring back with the shares and the dollar slid. Then it cooled off, but now appears to be moving back up.
What will Powell say to keep pmâs from rising?
BTW – if the EU were to do that it would be suicidal. Those people are insane – Clearly. I honestly think they want a nuclear war with Russia. I think they believe they can survive it. Doesnât it seem like evil is pushing awful hard to fulfill the Book of Revelation?
Anyhoo, the rally monkey đ is back. PMâs have reversed but they are working hard to keep them from popping. Powell on deck.
ipsofacto re bond selling
Unless there is a deal in Ukraine ,very soon. I can see Trump walking …threatening to cut NATO loose and then doing it,…..The Euro’s cannot have peace, as then the books get opened and they are looking at jail/ruination.
The row over X, has barely started, again unless the EU backs down Trump will retaliate, as that whole story stinks…..I saw ystdy that the bEU made more in fines last year off US co’s than it earned in TAX from them !!!!!!
A split could well be around the corner…..
ipsofacto
Re windows…….yr right it is completely out of control, the Blob is a make work scheme and that window example is a perfect example……a friend wanted to get into the building biz a few yrs back, for when he actually retired, doing 3/5 houses at a time…
He had a plumbing biz, his mate was a builder and they both knew many landowners, who would sell them land, at good prices for a cut of the profits….they gave up, before they even started, as the regulatory costs ate nearly all the profits !!!!!!!
Only large estates get built mostly as they can spread the costs over many houses…..
Ipso and others, a comment I’d like to add about the pending Dolly Varden/Contango Merger…
Their new name will be Contango Silver and Gold, so we lose the “sex appeal” of a beautiful Trout, Dolly Varden Silver, known to be a rich EXPLORER in BC’s Golden Triangle, for , to me, an unknown new PM name, Contango Silver and Gold… but we gain the status of being a PRODUCER with many excellent drill results, and at a time when production is extremely important. I expect this name change will be a setback for awhile until this merger and new identity become known, but I personally will be adding to my current position during that lull. FWIW from SNG!
