The Commission presented its proposal in March 2016 as part of the EU’s circular economy action plan. One of its main objectives is to encourage large scale fertilizer production from domestic organic or secondary raw materials in line with the circular economy model, by transforming waste into nutrients for crops.

The regulation still has to be signed and published in the Official Journal of the EU. It will enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication. It will start applying three years from its entry into force.

These new rules will ensure that only fertilisers that meet high quality and safety EU-wide requirements and standards can be sold freely across the EU. The contaminants in EU phosphate fertilizing products, such as cadmium, can potentially pose a risk to human, animal or plant health, to safety or to the environment and for this reason, the content of such contaminants was limited according to the new rules.

The new rules will boost the production and use of phosphate fertilizers with low cadmium content and of organic fertilisers and will provide a greater choice to farmers oriented towards a more environment-friendly agriculture.

Skepticism is growing that the government of Iran has disbanded its feared morality police, after widespread weekend reports said Tehran took the drastic measure as a compromise in order to appease and soften the still raging ‘anti-hijab’ protest movement.

Iranian Attorney General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri suggested the change was made on Saturday, however this “announcement” that the morality police has been disbanded remained ultra-vague, leading to confusion and rising skepticism.

In a sense the people there are in the middle, with a choice to be made, between joining the USA Europe and the west and or the east or Russia China India etc.

So what side is safer for prosperity, or which side more vulnerable to a financial calamity. I assume Russia China etc are pretty well off financially, thanks to exporting into the USA and importing money from the USA. The must have little or no national debt, possibly trade and budget surpluses, loaded with natural recourses, and a massive skilled workforce that got practice serving the USA and Europe. Pretty much self reliant.

Europe and the USA seems a lot more vulnerable. So many tradesmen and businesses here disappeared and went off shore. Lack of skilled labor, huge national debt, like $30 trillion from net importing, 60 years of accumulated trade deficits. Granted the USA can print money to pay bills etc, but how longer will that work? Decades ago USSR blew up, maybe this time it will be the USA and Europe clan blowing up.
