Well maddog
all I know is that the damage today is severe. Everything has gone from looking great to looking like a cliff above a bottomless pit. I believe we are now officially in a bear market in the shares. I ALWAYS underestimate the damage they end up doing. Here we are back to ground zero – back to where we were in the beginning of November. Five months of wasted energy.
Gotta take this a day at a time.
Mr Copper
Geez whats next with the lunatics in charge?
I’m scared to think, as it ain’t just the US…we are in just as bad a mess, as are so many other countries and anywhere like Hungary, that has a sensible leader, they portray as a right wing nutter…….
Re Gold falls sharply as Fed’s Powell raises potential for more aggressive interest rate hikes
That statement made me think. When Obama was in, the fear of more gun control made people go out and buy more guns ahead of time. Obama became known as the best gun salesman ever. Well the Media advertising a lower Gold price might lead some people to go out and buy some before it goes back up. Like the Obama thing, getting the opposite, what they are trying to resist.
As for the so called slowing economy, I think they are full of crap and trying to jaw bone and mentally create a slowing economy to slow inflation. Meanwhile they may be under estimating the wherewithal of millions of people making good money and not reporting it for taxes.
And the bozo Powell kept saying how they have been maintaining a stable value dollar? Wait I gotta put my rubber boots on. After WW II my father came home and in 1945, and bought the house up the street from me, for $5,000.
That house today is $500,000 or 100 times more “stable value”? paper money to buy it. My uncle Charlie bought a new cheap model 1950 Chevy it was $1,000. Heavy gauge premium US made steel. Today that cheap Chevy is probably $50,000 with a NINE 9 speed transmission? and who the HELL wants it?
With all the complicated computerized electronics and the thin recycled imported steel that rusts out. And if something ELECTRONICALLY goes wrong with it after the warranty expires? You better have a movie stare income to fix it.
The idiots can’t win.
I forgot about those bright white light headlamps that go on and off. And the stupid engine shuts down and restarts when stopped at a light. We really need Trump and like minded people running things. Its a total disaster what happed here after 1970, (even after 1913 depression/wars a go go) and the bozos are concerned about the climate??? Geez whats next with the lunatics in charge?

The fraud is right up in your face. Powell speaks, pm’s get slammed,
and u just know that GS and JPM etc are front running the slam……
as for GPL….me too…though I never dumped mine…..
Here is the reason the scum dumped PM’s to get this headline.
Gold falls sharply as Fed’s Powell raises potential for more aggressive interest rate hikes
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/gold-drifts-lower-ahead-of-testimony-by-feds-powell-8a2cc4aa
What is so pig ignorant here, is that anyone with two brain cells knows, tks to the size of debt out there, no way can rates go seriously hi…….but they have to maintain the myth, by selling…which in turn proves that they can’t go High….yet the MSM happily follows along, instead of screaming bullshit.
PS I might add that rates have done nothing….this is all PM;s and the Dollar.
deer79 – I’m with ya
Lost a bunch on GPL too but dumped it because I couldn’t stand to look at it anymore.
Today is a perfect example of what is wrong with pm’s. The fraud is right up in your face. Powell speaks, pm’s get slammed, it’s so predictable yet I never take advantage of it. Almost like you need a long/short portfolio to survive all the bullshit beatdowns that never stop coming.
This is particularly tough to swallow as from a technical perspective we were in the early stages of a breakout. At least that’s what I was seeing – I think samb was probably seeing the same.
Silver has an RSI now of 28 and has erased all the gains going back to November. Gold looks better but back to December prices. The HUI has also given up pretty much all gains from the recent rally.
With all the things going on, I have no idea why gold rallies anytime soon.
uh … did he say that ? ?

Like all of us asking: what is it going to take for the miners to make sustainable powerful up moves?????
Now the performance of the shares is so bad, it may well take a continued rise in the Metal to get the shares moving, which I think is very much on.
Perhaps the bigger driving force will be a collapse of the Rig, due to the PTB being driven out of any positions of power…..why…because the Covid scam is going to blow up, as more and more realise they were conned into taking a potentially lethal jab, that at best may only seriously harm them, particularly their immune system……
I already have some vaxxed people wondering if we were right not to be vaxxed, as they are constantly ill and we are not…..
People will go ape over this…..rightly so….I would.
Right there with you Buygold
2 of my biggest holdings blew up in my face ( Great Panther and Samex).
Like all of us asking: what is it going to take for the miners to make sustainable powerful up moves?????
Back to the Future
Looks like the shares of GDX, GDXJ, $HUI are going back below their 200 dma’s at the open at least.
I’m not sure I’ve ever not seen the HUI make a low that it doesn’t go back and re-test at least once. Looks like we’ll probably head back to 210.

Palladium – talk about a collapse
Palladium was over $3k just a year ago. Now, it’s sitting at $1349 today. That’s one helluva crash and it doesn’t appear to be done going down. Surprised I missed that ride down, I usually own whatever is crashing at the moment. 🙂
7 am EST
USD down a bit, same with rates. Call the headwinds neutral, but pm’s still in slow drip sale mode.
No real important eco data today, just Powell in the Senate sitting in front of that bunch of blowhards. Can’t imagine he will give pm’s any lift, more likely the opposite; they love to hit gold when the Chairman of the Fed is speaking.
$1850 is proving to be more stubborn than originally thought, but silver is the real problem. We go nowhere until silver shakes off its’ malaise and it’s not looking strong this am.
Morning Maya
I forgot Wanka had posted that picture. Classic.

New Curtin research has found the spike proteins of SARS-CoV-2, a strain of coronaviruses that caused the COVID-19 pandemic, become trapped when they come into contact with silicon, gold and copper, and that electric fields can be used to destroy the spike proteins, likely killing the virus.
Lead researcher Dr. Nadim Darwish, from the School of Molecular and Life Sciences at Curtin University said the study found the spike proteins of coronaviruses attached and became stuck to certain types of surfaces.
“Coronaviruses have spike proteins on their periphery that allow them to penetrate host cells and cause infection and we have found these proteins becomes stuck to the surface of silicon, gold and copper through a reaction that forms a strong chemical bond,” Dr. Darwish said.
No volume drip
nothing but algo’s selling 100 share lots all day long.
I guess this is the path of least resistance?
We’ve got Powell speaking to Congress the next two days, that’s generally a shit show for pm’s, and then jobs report on Friday. Hard to see anything good coming out of those events.
