Foreign demand for U.S. debt collapsed 80%!
– T-bill purchases fell from $250.5B to just $49.4B in a year.
– Long-term U.S. debt purchases also fell 46%, from $456B to $246.6B.
That’s a $410B reversal in foreign demand in just one year.
And the U.S. still has to finance record amounts of new debt.
Short-term repositioning? Or a longer term shift?
