Loading ...I strongly suspect the immigrants have lower living standards than third generation Americans, so they work a lot cheaper than Americans that have higher standards. Plus they are only providing a service, not producing things we need.
When I was a kid we made everything right here in the USA. So in a sense, if we want the immigrants to stay, we need to bring back factories that produce things we need, the birth of wealth is manufacturing, creating things of value. From those things everyone else lives off manufacturing, re sales service delivery etc.
Plus the heavy demand for labor will drive wages higher for everyone including the US gov’t, that needs revenue. So low paid workers probably don’t make enough pay to pay decent taxes. In other words immigrants need higher wages.
Screw the roofing company, they can all afford to pay more higher minimum wage, if they had to, like a tax, then Americans would also take those hard jobs that are supposed to pay more than the easy jobs.
Plus if they made more money, they could get married, and have kids and get the wives out of the workforce like it used to be. When I was a kid everybody got a decent minimum wage, whether it was McDonalds or a utility company or a factory.
