What if in addition to assisting Israel with their regional goals, he thought by taking out Iran he was also eliminating or severely reducing their ability to produce oil on the world stage? Iran for all intents and purposes is a proxy for Russia and China, but also a major supplier for China. What if Trump’s plan is make the U.S. the world’s dominant energy supplier next to Russia? With the move in Venezuela and now Iran he is eliminating large sources for China. Iran damaging helium production plays into our hands because Wyoming has tons of it and is picking up the slack. Same with LNG, Qatar losing 17% of production also conveniently works to our advantage as we are flush with LNG that Europe needs.
China has a big advantage with rare earths and we will need to do a deal with them eventually, maybe oil becomes a carrot.
I’ve also heard speculation that oil could be used to help pay down debt to those who hold our bonds. Pretty sure Europe holds a couple trillion in US debt.
Obviously, this doesn’t happen overnight and we need to double or triple our oil and refining capacity. Just a thought.
I would much prefer to believe this is part of a strategy rather than being dragged into war by Netanyahu, because as long as he is in power, it will never end.
