Yes I know and benders ect but never learned it. As a child and female bias days were different, Doing office work okay which I wasn’t interested in but got the message the machinery was to dangerous a scenario. Same with the iron workers.
Gold continuing to soar AH
Up $99 at the moment. Makes me wonder if we’re not going to take another run at $3500 tonight.
The Fed will need to reload the Crimex to reverse it.
Hey Goldie
Yes. Was CNC back then too. We had a couple of programmers that converted the mechanical drawings into flat pattern programs for the machines to punch the various cutouts. They have a slew of different machines, lasers, water jets, etc. The punch presses were faster for the kind of work we did. We had six punch presses, very loud and shook the floor. Really great business back then.

I think it’s worth watching. The reaction to the earnings was a big over-reaction IMHO.
I don’t think it will take much for it to get back over $6
This was an exceptional day. These shares have acted much better the last couple afternoons. The volume looks good on a cursory glance, and the smaller shares sort of ruled the day. We might look back on today as being the real kickoff to the bull market in the shares.
Still have to get through tomorrow’s Fed meeting where anything goes, but I think some real buying came in today. We will see.

That’s great your son is taking the initiative to travel, learn, building a resume with some experience. Kinda funny I had opportunities to study in Europe plus Mexico near the Amazon which I was really interested in to find the medicine men and learn what plants they used and they come here. Now one of my grandsons had a opportunity to travel all over Europe to learn the history. He gets lots of offeres for different things. With things going on in Europe and wanting war probably not a good idea.
Also wise he has PMs with him that in a WCS having cash, particularly USD, PMs of different sizes can buy your way out. A good back pack including some light food like packaged noodle soups, health bars and bottled water. In Mexico it can get cool at night. Never travel or even drive at night there. That’s when banditos can be most active. Always stay in busy roads not isolated roads where banditos can set up road blocks and rob you and tell you were he’s at and where he’s going. Check in everyday by email or something. Actually safest way of traveling around is by bus. Even cops are crooked there. If he drives tell him it’s a must he gets local English speaking reputable insurance that specifies they will immediately bail him out of jail, they have no due process like us. Reason is if there is a accident not even his fault they can jail both party’s there and guilty till proven innocent and can prove they have money or insurance to pay for it. So he’ll need someone to call right away as those jails are unsanitary and bad and can keep you there. Two cops can be banditos. Unlike Europe where as long as you don’t talk or can speak the language you can blend in but not Mexico. They’ll target tourists. Pull them over on some bogus charge say over speed limit when they didn’t maybe even getting another cop involved to look legitimate. Then tell you that you can settle this right now with a few hundred dollars in cash. They’re trying to scam you. What you tell them is you don’t have the cash ” even if you do” but you feel you didn’t do anything wrong and do have a lawyer on call and would prefer to go to court but stay cool. They don’t want that as if they find out what their doing their be fired at the least. If you politely resist, stay low profile they’ll then give you a warning and probably realize you know what they’re doing. They like to do that when people are heading to the airport to leave to thinking they won’t have enough time to go to court. Taxi’s could be fake too so have to make sure it’s a reputable taxi and always let people know where your going and best not to go alone if you don’t know what your walking into. Ask what they consider the bad parts of towns or neighborhoods not to go to. They can use sharp blades to cut back packs so keep his on his side as a guy he’s not likely going to carry it in front of him. Keep some barrier inside the back back pack light. Keep any ID and best more than one on his person not something someone could grab. Don’t flash dollars in public if paying for something try to have it ready and have it in different places. Don’t walk too close to the street where say a motor bike could come by and reach something like a phone. Keep them out of sight, no watches in site or jewelry. Don’t leave a back pack alone for a minute.
Watch videos on warnings. Avoid bars where they could be drugged and robbed or worse. Only go to safer restaurants for the same reason. They can have some awesome and healthy food there and a lot cheaper in US dollars as long as your not in a tourist area where they are waiting for you and Jack up the prices. Same with vendors and if wanted something you could haggle prices. That’s a norm there even with locals. Everything’s a garage sale there they haggle prices even housing and rentals depending on demand. They also sell silver jewelry there you can haggle with us dollars.

How wonderful it will be to see real jobs and products made here again .
Captain Hook you’ll love this ; my first Ford
A model B ( four cylinder ) that I converted to a V-8 by mating a ’39 floor shift transmission between a later model Mercury flathead and the original drivetrain . The car had a rumble seat instead of the normal trunklid.

Buygold
Maybe depending on where you live it wasn’t to great for those in health care until towards the end a but generally a demanding job anyways. They were like the Fed as far as keeping up with inflation, always late.
Sheet metal now is using more computerized equipment called CNC I think. I’m not in it but a known company in Calif is in my immediate family. I think their still far from being replaced by computers though. I think one reason it’s speciality work on demand. From airplanes, computer desks of 90s, to new projects at Disney. So it still needs skilled Class A machinist.
Alex
Good for your buddy. Sounds like he’s in the sheet metal fabrication business. That’s what I did back in the 90’s when we made computer cabinets here in the US. I had Amada punch presses back then.
The 90’s were spectacular times economy wise with the advent of pc’s and the internet.
I hope we do get back to manufacturing here, and you’re right, it will take some time. We need to rebuild our middle class. We were never as strong as we were when our middle class prospered.
So, to hyperinflationary print
a couple things have to happen right? There either has to be a run on our bonds, so the Fed is the buyer of last resort, they print, which will crush the dollar. Or, they start cutting back to zero and try to crush the currency. The problem with that is, everyone else is cutting at the same time. Is there something else?
We’ll see……………. Israel?
President Donald Trump announced that he has called off airstrikes on Yemen after hearing word from the Houthis that they would no longer attack ships.
‘They don’t want to fight anymore. They just don’t want to fight. And we will honor that, and we will stop the bombings,’ he said in the Oval Office during a meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
‘They have capitulated,’ Trump said of the rebel group.

Yes reality is coming very soon now.
Look at Ford.
Ford Shares Slide After Net Income Plunge, Suspended Guidance | ZeroHedge
In the ‘old days’ – if Ford had put out a report like that – not just Ford – but the entire market would be crashing.
Now, Trump puts out one distraction – Bessent puts out another – and presto chango – stocks have a big comeback which of course is a ‘good reason’ to minimize PMs. (all thanks to computers/AI/algos – our friends? – not – they are our enemies)
But these characters always think they can outsmart the market(s).
The Blackrock boys (et al) thought they were so smart using passive investing into index funds to rig the markets – but now they face a disorderly unwind.
And it will happen no matter how much they fight it – it’s coming.
The only thing they will be able to do in order to preserve their grip on the people will be a major print, hyperinflation (in order to inflate away the debt), and a new currency regime (hopefiully with programable currency to keep the plebs in line).
You must hope they don’t get that as their true natures would be revealed.
We need to fight this … our very survival depends on it.
So don’t be stupid and lazy like far too many.
Get out there and support local heroes – that are attempting to organize your political economy – that is based in your best interests – not those of the rich and powerful in DC who don’t give a flying F about you.

Just put HL on my “watch list”
Captain Hook , I believe you are soon to be vindicated
I recently placed an order with a nationally known chain of low cost imported goods, associated with the name Walton , the family which accumulated enormous wealth after Henry K. and Zbignew B. scuttled US manufacturing jobs by making political deals in a large Asian country . ( Apologies for not naming names , but there is a reason ).
Overnight I received two emails from that corporation. One stating that my address could not be located ( it was not a problem in the past with that company ) and a second , saying my payment was being refunded … they were cancelling the order , because of the ‘address issue’).
The email when I placed the order indicated a delivery date of May 22 . That told me it was arriving from an International source – you can guess from which nation as well as I can .
I predict that there will be many empty shelves at the local stores of that and other chain stores very soon , with significant impact on the corporate share prices . We are already seeing volatility in stock market indices .
It will be blamed on Trump , and there will be economic pain , but building product in America once again will be worth it . It will take years !
A friend in Colombia owns a small metal manufacturing firm , and came to America to buy a used numerically controlled turret stamping/punching machine complete with dozens of interchangable dies . He paid pennies on the dollar for that huge machine. A very wise investment at this time will be the purchase of functional , usable heavy manufacturing equipment for use in rebuilding American infrastructure .

“joined at the hip with China”
Hadn’t thought of that before. You guys export a lot to China. They are partly the reason you are so prosperous. JMO I don’t think this tariff war will persist. It’s in no one’s interest. Then again when you get humans involved …
Scanning the options market (cause R640 no longer appears to be with us)
Took a look at Hecla. Pretty good open interest for the June 20th $4, $5 and $6 calls. It appears there are some folks that are betting on a recovery in that stock.
Not recommending, just observing. 🙂
Some of these shares aren’t quite decoupling
The silver shares I watch just keep drifting lower, NEM is pinned down.
Maybe they’ll come back toward the end of the day like yesterday, but they just can’t seem to catch/hold a bid.
HUI/BTC Ratio defines timing …
… of recent bounce in the PM sector …

From the bottom in December, the HUI/BTC Ratio traced out a four month – five wave affair … and so far, has put in a two-week correction … matching the weakness in the PM sector up until this week.
If history is a good guide, technically the PM sector still needs to consolidate for approximately another month or so … potentially matching the presence of a head and shoulders pattern in the trade.
Anything can happen … however odds are odds.
Be careful folks
Tapping on $3400
Beautiful.
Correction.
PMI’s and ISM’s were out yesterday. International trade balances today were larger than expected. Hard to understand unless these countries frontloaded deliveries before the tariffs.
