as I said to ferret…the mkts are all over the place o/n….presumably the ruling will be overturned…..but Bannon reckons there definitely will be a Constitutional crisis soon and that looks to be where yr headed……Unless Roberts grows some.

If nothing else I’m very glad I am not the silver short !!!

I think “all over the place” sums up mkts since January 20th (or a bit before).

I read an article on functional unemployment on ZH today, a phrase which I had totally misconstrued. It means part timers who can’t get a full time job through no fault of their own. Although they are categorised as ’employed’ for statistical purposes, they can’t live off their earnings and are a victim of government apathy.

I had previously thought that it meant people who had jobs which were unproductive. Bureaucrats, lawyers, most accountants especially tax ones, most police, uni lecturers, judges, politicians etc etc. In the sense that although they have a function, they don’t actually do any work, productive work. And often their ‘work’ is actually counterproductive, getting in the way of producers with rules and regulations, forms that need ticks here there and everywhere. So they are basically unemployed, but still have a function.

There is a basic similarity between the actual definition and my wrong definition. Both have something to do, but neither can get full time productive work. The difference is that my ‘functionally unemployed’ are usually incapable of anything productive, nor do they have any desire for such a position.

Not sure the mkts are taking the latest mad ruling seriously …if they were Bonds would have cratered, big time……though I must say the reactions are all over the place.

Can silver carry the ball?

It may have to today. It’s up 1% this am, while gold languishes. Gold lost about $10 more in the AH yesterday, so GLD actually is down about 1/2%.

SM is roaring again on NVDA’s earnings. Oil up another 1%. Crypto up across the board. As maddog mentioned, 10 yr. back at 4.52% which is strengthening the dollar a little. They better get that fixed.

PM shares on either side of flat in the premarket. The good thing is that gold was down a lot more in the overnights and has fought its way back.

GDP numbers today – should suck.

Two more sessions and month-end is over.

Yeah, SMR has been on quite the roll, especially in the last week. Their small modular tech is part of the future for US nuke energy. Trump is unleashing energy of all forms, but nuke makes the most sense. All he had to do was deregulate and get the government out of the way, so these guys can get online. The DOE and NRC have been a drag on innovation for decades when it comes to nuclear energy. They take forever to approve anything and make the most ridiculous punitive demands on the industry. Just like all government, people creating jobs for themselves and power hungry. They stifle innovation and industries. Trump’s new guy is brilliant and is unleashing them.

It’s really too bad that Republicans, especially in the Senate, but the House also, are just like the rest of government. Self-important, useless eaters that steal and slow us all down. If they stay out of the way, nuke’s future should be very bright for at least the next few years. Imagine if all that wind and solar money had been directed into real energy like nuke, coal, and oil. Our economies would be so strong. The goal should be to make energy free, for all countries.
