Fed

Posted by goldielocks @ 21:58 on May 7, 2025

Doing a search after reading the Fed was buying Blackrock ETFs in 2020-1 during COVID and bonds which is picking and chosing to pump the market I found this. Currently they’re allegedly not buying but sold them and not buying or selling ETFs, treasuries or bonds to tighten bring up the dollar and make it harder for loans.

Yes, the Federal Reserve (Fed) did purchase corporate bond ETFs, including those from BlackRock’s iShares division, during 2020. This was part of the Fed’s emergency response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. BlackRock was hired by the Fed to execute the program, managing portfolios of corporate bonds and debt ETFs.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
  • Fed’s Emergency Response:

In March 2020, the Fed announced a program to purchase corporate bonds and ETFs to support market liquidity and address the economic downturn caused by the pandemic.

  • BlackRock’s Role:

BlackRock was selected by the Fed to manage portfolios of corporate bonds and debt ETFs, including those offered by iShares.

  • ETF Purchases:

The Fed began purchasing ETFs, including iShares funds, in May 2020.

  • Purpose of Purchases:
The goal of the Fed’s purchases was to stabilize the corporate debt market, which had been struggling due to the pandemic.
