For years I don’t think I have seen anything but Hispanic roofers in this area. Might be an odd Anglo guy in there or the foreman but that’s about it. Farming and construction work have high levels of illegals working as well. As far as I can tell our homegrown X and Y generations have little taste for hard and dirty work. They would rather work and play with computers.
It may be an unpopular view but I think it would be better for the nation if we had some means of legalizing those illegals who have been here for a number of years, been crime free and have been working and not living off the dole. They have been contributing to our society and as a practical matter it would do no one good to send them back.
When this program has been introduced then have a hard date like … right now … that anyone else coming in illegally would be immediately deported.
