I understand what you mean but buying a new car for most also including debt and loans that the rich who produce nothing get. Then it loses value over time. I still get what you mean about American made but should be not only competitive in price but last as long.

Other things though and there’s plenty should just be outright outlawed but the reasoning is it curbs greed if people have no other choices and keeps prices in check.

I have too sets of matches for emergencys, fire starters  or avoiding cheap Chinese lighters.

One I found is made by the brand Diamond. The better matches and made in America. Their wood stem is thicker and more sturdy and the stricker on the side works. The other and both prices are comparable is called Spark. They are made in China. The wood stem is thinner, about half the width of Diamond easily breaks when striking which could be a fire hazard and the sulphur on the match often crumbles and doesn’t light and stricker is also bad and hard to use probably the same, cut the ingredients in half or replaced with a sub standard substitute. They wouldn’t be reliable in a survival situation.

So when companies were no longer able to compare quality vs another companies, China took advantage of that. They’ve been studying world wide prices of everything and found a way to make cheaper copies even if they made it cost a little less it’s not saving money if their products fall apart. Not just here but world wide.  It don’t last very long and have to keep buying more made by other Chinese companies doing the same thing. Their ripping us off and they who are eliminating competition if they stop making it here.  It’s not saving money, it’s costing more. I remember even back in the 1970s when visiting a reservation I was shocked to find Indian looking pottery made in it was either Japan or China back then. I think they even took manufacturing from Japan when their products were everywhere back then.  I couldn’t believe it, even the reservation. Not all but that one did because they weren’t into selling  pottery like others.
