Salt water crocodiles? Lol

A actually though Maya is bias because he’s used to them and because of being a disaster prone Island they make building accordingly. Sylmar that killed over 60 people and took down 3 hospitals and remember how weird it felt because called years later to help out in one of them Holy Cross Hospital that was 10 story’s now one story. I think it was a 6,6 quake in Sylmar lasted in one of the wildest minutes of our lives with the 3 Rd floor above me about to collapse and already rippee in two that threw my parents two story mountain and city view home three feet off the foundation and destroyed 3 hospitals  and damaged others. Countless of homes destroyed in 71. Then later nearby Northridge I think 6.7 very destructive even though they said the Sylmar or San Fernando quake changed the building codes, including the bolting homes to their foundations. I noticed seeing some work reinforcing corners of houses and work near the ceilings. They can reinforce homes. If Alaska has a bad one it could threaten Hawaii. Japan took a 9 but building codes saved them but not from the Tsunami.

New York has other issues including hurricanes, currently humans or rif raf lol. Bad thing they don’t go away as fast as natural disasters. But it’s not the size that counts, it’s building ready. Even being on the streets amongst those sky scrapers that’s a lot of stuff that can fall on you. Bricks dislodge quickly and start flying all over the place. People don’t look up either.  Japan wanted a lot of our trees because it needed wood for the quakes.

Our coast in California not only has the San Andreas fault but the bigger Cascade that goes all along the West Coast to Canada and the tsunami that could go miles inland. It’s over due, about every couple hundred years now over 300 years it’s over due. Then who knows would it set off the San Andreas?

I don’t remember seeing any Crocs in Hawaii, lol that’s to south and Florida but gators there,  luckily no sharks either but they’re there.

For a reference point, Hilo, Hawaii is called the most disaster-prone city in the country. It has been, and continues to be threatened by Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Lava flows, and earthquakes…..

and I suppose loads of poisinous snakes and spiders….with sharks in the ocean……but that’s ok as they stay well offshore, because they are scared of the salt water crocodiles…..I can’t wait !!!!

Nice turn from last night

I shouldn’t discourage you, because it is exactly that fear that keeps the Rif-Raf out of my neighborhood, and off my island!  But I know the geology here well.  We may be on the most active volcano on the planet, but it is a ‘shield volcano’ unlike most others on the planet.  It just plain is incapable of massive explosive outbursts like every other ‘subduction volcano’ in the world.  When the lava flows here, it is slow and there is plenty of time to get out of the way.  The greater threat here is Tsunamis generated anywhere around the Pacific rim by OTHER exploding volcanoes and earthquakes.  I’m in the middle of the bathtub here that sometimes has a great ‘slosh’ of water.

For a reference point, Hilo, Hawaii is called the most disaster-prone city in the country.  It has been, and continues to be threatened by Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Lava flows, and earthquakes.

He brought up a good question amongst others. In so many words if the Feds had a choice of saving the economy predominantly  ” working middle class and poor” or the banks, which one do you think they’ll want to save?

Looks like AI is going to cause a lot of damage.

Now filing people tax returns for those who get them to someone else.

The irony just like the computer bubble that was outsourced, it’s going to affect not just jobs by replacing people with computers, but this time even computer jobs by AI computers itself. That’s a lot of jobs, even wall street.

Are u anywhere around NY. Now they’re saying on the News their dumb mayor you got telling people just lay down and cover your neck in a quake. That’s stupid.

They did say Californians told them that is wrong. Get outside or go in a doorway. I agree with getting out of you recognize it I immediately and can get out fast and beware of any porch or over hang that cam fall and get clear but the doorway thing might be okay in a small one but not a big one. I saw what happened to open doors in big one. The split in two. Anyone standing in those doors would of been impaled or stabbed in the abdomen with wood. If you have to get down in a fetal position. At the Veterans the roofs collapsed and many doors all together. Of they would of got to the floor next to the bed many would of survived. Same for cars under bridges. Many would of survived if they could get out of the car fast and laid down making them self as low and small as possible next to the car except maybe cars at the edge in or out that also could of got out fast and got away. Even today I leave a lot of space between me and a car on any bridge because if I feel a quake I’m not just gonna sit there.  For many reasons they need to make one snap release on infant and children in car seats.

Dale Robertson lived just a few miles from me and was often in local cafes. He had nothing good to say about Barbra Stanwyck.

Posted by Richard640 @ 6:37 on April 6, 2024

Stanwyck, at age 45, had a four-year romantic affair with 22-year-old actor Robert Wagner that had begun on the set of Titanic (1953)

Political views
A conservative Republican, Stanwyck opposed the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt. She felt that if someone from her disadvantaged background had risen to success, others should be able to prosper without government intervention or assistance.[92] For Stanwyck, “hard work with the prospect of rich reward was the American way.” She became an early member of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals (MPA) after its founding in 1944. The mission of this group was to “combat … subversive methods [used in the industry] to undermine and change the American way of life.”[93][94] It opposed both communist and fascist influences in Hollywood. She publicly supported the investigations of the House Un-American Activities Committee, and her husband Robert Taylor testified as a friendly witness.[95] Stanwyck supported Thomas E. Dewey in the 1944 and 1948 United States presidential elections.[96][97]
*************************************************************************************
A fan of Objectivist author Ayn Rand, Stanwyck persuaded Warner Bros. head Jack L. Warner to purchase the rights to The Fountainhead before it became a bestseller, and she wrote to Rand of her admiration of Atlas Shrugged.[92][98]
Stanwyck was one of the best-liked actresses in Hollywood and maintained friendships with many of her fellow actors (as well as crew members of her films and TV shows), including Joel McCrea and his wife Frances DeeGeorge BrentRobert PrestonHenry Fonda (who had a longtime crush on her),[82][83] James StewartLinda EvansJoan CrawfordJack Benny and his wife Mary LivingstoneWilliam HoldenGary Cooper, and Fred MacMurray.[84] During filming of To Please a Lady, Stanwyck refused to leave her African-American maid Harriet Coray in a hotel only for African-American people and insisted that Harriet stay in the same hotel as she did. After much pressure from Stanwyck, Coray was allowed to stay in the best hotel in Indianapolis with Stanwyck and the rest of the cast and crew.[85]
Stanwyck, at age 45, had a four-year romantic affair with 22-year-old actor Robert Wagner that had begun on the set of Titanic (1953)[86] before Stanwyck ended the relationship.[87] The affair is described in Wagner’s 2008 memoir Pieces of My Heart.[88] In the 1950s, Stanwyck also had one-night stand with Farley Granger, which he wrote about in his autobiography Include Me Out: My Life from Goldwyn to Broadway (2007).[89][90][91

That little earthquake…

Posted by Maya @ 2:51 on April 6, 2024

East coasters aren’t used to them, that’s all.  Here on Hawaii Island, a 4.5 quake is just another day shakin’.  “Did you feel that?”   “I’m not sure… maybe.”    We have daily 2.5 quakes along the south shore as the mountain settles.  Personally, I rode my office chair like a bronco for 40 seconds thru a 6.9 roller.  No damage.   Just another day on the volcano.

CFTC Commitments of Traders Report – CMX (Futures Only)

Great week. Hope the Capt. is right and the Crimex is breaking. If so, these moves will just get bigger and the 2% rule in gold should go by the wayside. Hope so.

HUI looks good, sitting right at possible resistance. If we correct Monday it would make sense. If the metals are in breakaway mode, then there’ll be no resistance.

I can go on and on about wages but here’s another. If family’s, especially single family makes under a certain amount they can get reduced or free healthcare but for working get reduced health care or could. On top of that could get rental help if lucky with long waiting list now impossible and maybe food stamps. But with wages going up they lose those options and wind up paying more than when they earned less. How convenient for the government. Inflate, pretend how they’re helping people they pushed into poverty after all three deductions not counting car insurance highest in the nation again because of gov according to insurance to get to work plus tax on gas ca ching for government for even going to work now tells the ones eligible sorry you make too much now.

And remember prez Obamanation. I was done with child care cost and family medical insurance costs that was with everything was 200 month med insurance. It should of went down but with Obozo it went up to 600 a month including life insurance. My daughter in laws insurance was paid by my son but her sister who worked a government medical job no less had to pay 900 a month for her and her son that was apparently less than where her husband worked. Child care, insurance all comes out of your check. That’s all Gov BS.
