I think samb is right in his call but pm’s have a nasty way of making you miss on the early side.

For the most part I think Mr. Market is really in charge and the bozo bankers are reacting in defense mode. And copy cat on Paul Volkers 1970s rates to 21% to kill the beast Gold.

One thing they need to worry about, if somebody on Financial News media says something like, “A high interest rate is the sign of a weak currency, and a country’s economy in trouble”.

The economy was converted to 4 wheel drive long ago, from 2 wheel drive. Unfortunately, a 4 wheel drive gets you stuck in a worse place than 2 wheel drive. The system is very far from a paved road.

Rates have done a v nice A-B-C correction…they could well explode higher from here….which considering who is in charge, would be a perfectly logical reaction….after all who outside a lunatic asylum, would lend a cent to Paedo Joe and Co.

Ok chart pros, chart below 10 year. We pretty much bottomed in September and started dropping Feb 1st, with this jump in yields since Feb 1st. It looks like the low points were getting closer to the 200 MA. So the question now is, is this a high point for rates to drop from here? All my miners are still above the September bottom. Rates climbing since September but Gold went $1625 to $1825 today even with higher rates. Golds Sept Low point $1625, if it happens again? It would be a gift from God, maybe the last chance for some physical buyers including banks and gov’ts. By the looks of things rates would have to double from here to get gold back to $1625. I personally don’t care what they do, they can’t win because they already lost it long ago.

Fed minutes must have come out as the SM seems to like them. PM’s were hit but coming back now as rates haven’t moved. Dollar is still a pain in the ass, same with silver.

I guess our only hope is for the SM to drag us along. Looks like a 10th straight down day is in the works. Death by a thousand cuts.

We have ourselves a little bounce in the makings with gold quietly sliding past $1850. Silver up a little as well. The shares have been selling off on low volume so maybe we’ll get some breath come back into these things.

Would love to see us up $30-40 in an “out of blue” move up, but we get what they give us.

Side note: BHP and RIO are down a couple % in the premarket. Copper is the culprit there but it’s not down much, less than 1%. They don’t trade with pm’s much at all.

Let’s get ourselves a bounce.

There’s still a bit of eco data coming out this week – FOMC minutes today, GDP tomorrow and PCE on Friday. PCE is supposedly what the Fed follows on inflation so it’s probably most important to the markets.

Gold just ticked up a few bucks, let’s see if it sticks or it just drifts right back down. We’ve seen that for a couple of weeks now.

Nat Gas @ $1.98 down another 6%. It just doesn’t jive with the news we received for months on ZeroHedge that supply would be tight due to the cold winters here in the west, the war in Ukraine, etc.

USD is flat. 10 yr. is down a bip to 3.94%. We are definitely moving inverse rates and they’ve had a good run. Hopefully we’ll get a break.

GFI jumps out at me down 4% on no news this am. Seems cheap to me here around $9.50, thinking the risk/reward is worth a shot.

Everything else is down a few pennies, NUGT down 1%. GFI will weigh on the indexes.
