Friends of mine who have visited Cuba always comment on how run down and dirty the place is. The buildings are falling apart.

I’ve never heard of people from the USA risking their lives in small boats to go there … although the opposite is often true.

If Chile does compensate the owners of the mines then I’d be very surprised if they did so at a fair price. The mines there are worth a boatload and I doubt they could really afford to pay a fair price.

Then there is the problem of management. How good are govs at managing mines? Would these jobs be political plums? Would the miners then get prohibitively high wages from the leftist government? How would the gov be able to get any more investments in other industries? How would they deal with the plethora of lawsuits relating to the seizures?

This idea sounds like a can of worms to me!

I wouldn’t be surprised. Another reason they should NOT take over mines either.

The communists replaced the key personnel in the oil industry with incompetent party hacks . As an example , there were fishing villages around Lake Maracaibo . The idiots maintaining the surrounding oil wells could not even adequately maintain the seals so the lake is now so polluted by crude oil that the fish were killed off , is what I’ve been told . The country that was once the richest in South America is now so destitute that the people now pour into neighboring Colombia , doing to Colombian wages what the illegals have done to American wages , and bringing crime , prostitution , and disease . Nothing new there ! Soros LOVES porous borders .

That doesn’t speak well of their fiduciary irresponsibility’s by robbing the people and it’s resources. Why don’t the buy it like everyone else. Especially since people who do that tend to have a greed factor. It didn’t do much for Venezuela or their oil but enrich a few in power at the expense of the whole country. Then they used it to expand their military to offset a rebellion while taking rights away.

That tells me they are prepared to ‘compensate’ shareholder value at the bottom ( if that ) , and foresee a brighter future for the resources than for their CB currencies . The same in Canada could turn Turdeau into a hero instead of a lump of ‘merde’ if played right , but at the cost of Bay Street (Toronto’s Wall Street) support .

Buffet isn’t stupid and knows how to be patient and many times getting in at the lows. He probably knew this whole attack on energy thing was irresponsible and doomed to fail. If it wasn’t for this war in Ukraine they started and Russia pulling the plug on them and yeah the prices are up but it would probably be worse. They’d still be trying to shut down even more energy resources with a let them eat cake attitude as long as it didn’t affect their town and even manipulate the markets with green data on who’s producing the most emissions. Looks like Buffet has been accumulating coal and other energy resources for quite a few years.
Blaming Putin for energy crisis, they got it partially right, but in the futures market when he took their way out away from them. Now there going to the Saudis.

This may not be absolute but makes a point as far as whether it’s IQ or more likely sanctions. There’s no bad followers, just bad leaders.”

I myself don’t think its as bad there as our fake news media tells us. Because one time I was researching about all the vintage American cars they have down there. Saw some videos. They looked like fun loving people, taking pride in their old cars. The streets and traffic looked clean and orderly; people well dressed etc. It didn’t look like Detroit.

And I saw little factory units with those people with amazing ingenuity fabricating metal parts and keeping those cars going. And no “check engine” lights LOL. Lets face it, there are poor people in every country. It may be a lack of brains or sanctions? Geez, if Trump regained our independence, the UN would put sanctions on the USA too.

The people that screwed Trump all those years, and rig election, also rig the news. So I don’t believe anything they say or imply. In fact I reverse everything they say. They will never praise Cuba or say anything good about the place because the won independence. And the bad guys don’t like pockets of independence.

Check out who bought all the coal mines after Biden destroyed their market. None other than Warren Buffet. Pennies on the dollar.
