Barrick pulls the trigger on Pueblo Viejo expansion
The Dominican Republic has completed a review of the location for a new tailings storage facility for Barrick Gold’s (TSX: ABX; NYSE: GOLD) $1.4 billion Pueblo Viejo gold mine expansion project that will extend production at the Tier One asset beyond 2040.
The world’s second-largest gold producer had warned last year that production at the mine would have to end in 2030 without a new mining waste depository.
The expansion will also enable the mining of lower grades in the existing deposit, supporting annual output of more than 800,000 oz. of gold.

Condolences to Papa. What a amazing story I hope is kept in the family. He lived a good life to give a good life to his family and in his old age his family watched out for him. You can’t get much more perfect than that.
I can see why he didn’t want to go back. There was nothing but bad memories to go back to. Some are drawn back especially at vulnerable ages like him others are not. Why those years are so important to kids to try to shelter them at that age.
Even today story’s coming out of the atrocities of that war.
He probably outlived those soldiers.

A Tribute to Papa
Last night we lost the patriarch of five generations of my ‘Hanai’, or sort of adoptive family of the past 40 years. Papa was filipino, born in 1930. Many times in past years, after he retired as a sugar cane mill worker in Hawaii, the family asked if he would like to travel back to the Philippines for a visit. He always declined the offers. He said he had too many bad memories there. A few years ago he finally relented and told us why he had bad memories of back there. During the war, in 1945, he was only 15 and captured by the Japanese soldiers and brought to their prison camp. The Japanese were rounding up all the men and boys that might give them trouble, and were executing them. Papa was standing in a line at the camp, watching while his friends and neighbors in front of him in line were being hung. He was about number five in the line when the American planes came over and bombed the camp. The Japanese guards all ran off, and all the filipino prisoners scattered into the jungles. Papa spent five days hiding in the jungles and did not come out until he saw someone he knew. Papa was a survivor. Shortly after that the entire family was taken to America… to Hawaii to work in the sugar cane fields. Papa worked a lifetime here, and raised six children. Last night he had his last heart attack. He was 91. Rest in peace, Papa. You were a survivor.

Someone told me today doing driving part time she picked up two guys who were drunk and they said they wanted to go to Eureka which is almost 300 miles from where she was at.
They woke up half way there and wanted to know where they were. She said they thought they were going to a street called Eureka close where they got picked up called Eureka rd.
She said she would of drove them back if they weren’t ask holes about it. I asked her how she got them out of the car? They wanted something to drink and told her she better be there when they got back. She scooted out of there burning rubber.

It’s a known fact that the Omnicron wasn’t as severe as the initial Covid-19. What form of Covid did most of the people get a less severe case of? Apparently since Omnicron was a different form that was rumored to come from a lab in Africa is provided better immunity to the other forms than the other way around. If it’s true and was leaked out was it purposely released for that reason?
It’s hard to believe they suddenly discovered God given natural immunity and developing antibodies is a stronger defense and much more effective, they were playing dumb. IMO
