Re 10 Year Bond Yield and Gold
On my Schwab software with GLD overlay. In the past 6 months $TNX 10 year bond yield went 1.2% to 2.0% today + 66%, and Gold went up 5% anyway. Try to imagine Golds price today if that yield was still at 1%. $2,500? Or more?

On a six month chart with a GLD gold over lay. Gold is up about 5% and IAG is up about 25%. The stock has out performed physical gold, and is way off its recent high Nov 16 at $3.40, $2.90 today.

All of those companies, have high market caps and are decent miners, and all of them outperformed gold itself. Most others under performed spot. Pretty much all the other miners are BELOW Golds performance by 15% and lower.

We can’t trust the CPI Index because the Fed always under stated the real CPI, and used Hedonics often to lower the values of some products. As for the numbers on the left side it the chart, if they denoted US Dollars, the $5 mark in 1970 today would be $100. Not 30. So we don’t know what those left side number mean. The angle up is correct.
Calculating the constant value of the US Dollar has been my hobby since 1965. Years ago everything costs 10 times more. These days everything in 20 times more. Maybe even more now with what going on and new cars selling for over list price.
