You’re right, it should be a lot higher. But it was high for a controlled price. I figure the original $140/oz times 20 is $2800 in todays money, for the old manipulated $140/oz. But even $2800 is cheap figuring a small apartment is $2300/mo, and a blown transmission can go past $2800.

Yes, I do think the dollar needs to go down some more. Unfortunately it’s the cleanest shirt in a filthy fiat index, so I’m not sure when that happens. Not sure I agree that $2100 was ahead of where it should be. I think without the constant Banksters manipulation it would be much higher than that. I feel like gold should be upwards of $5k.

The shares, measured by the HUI are ridiculously cheap but continue to stay cheap or go lower.

Right, so did Gold, near $2100/oz last August 2020, 13 months now in this boring correction. PGMs and copper peaked mid 2021. The dopey/dollar was lower too. Maybe that’s the bottom line? We need a lower dollar again? Some day it might get very abruptly lower if the high national debt laxative kicks in.

I was looking at a lot of other sectors before, and so far, under “Software” sub sectors  Application Software and Systems Software, looks good but related to Dow SnP boring boom etc

That’s a good strategy and seems to have worked well for you.

The one thing I may have learned is that the mining shares should be traded and in my experience haven’t been good long term holds. Maybe that will change in the future but I don’t know.

I agree South Africa is an inferior place to invest. So only use some Vegas money, not bulk money. Usually I start with a small bet, and if it goes up I double the shares, and if I see 5-10% again, ill double the shares again, and if it starts looking bad I sell out all.

The only explanation I can think of re falling PGM prices, is falling car sales? Less PGMs needed for the stupidly expensive unneeded PGM “muffler”. My car mechanic friend shoed me one that was always $400 and now $2700.

Re SBSW they were originally Gold miner, but good thing is they absorbed Stillwater mining PGM in the USA, Montana I think. Lots of wild cards we’re dealing with. Imo this whole global economy is in “transitory” mode LOL.

My electric bill has doubled this year, but that was from a low base price and it does not reflect yet what has been happening recently. Nat Gas wholesale prices have gone from 30 pence/therm to 130 pence/therm and electric prices have gone from 50p /Kwatt hr in 2020 to over 350, up 7 times …..These prices have yet to hit domestic bills and as this article says…it is mostly down to no wind for the Wind Farms….the ‘effing Mellons have ‘effed it all up again.

Thanks for the tip on IMPUY. Seems like they are highly profitable. The big risk of course is South Africa.
A 12% dividend is worth taking a little risk I think.

Interesting to me that palladium has gone down from $3k to $2k so maybe some of that money will come into platinum, gold and silver.
