Probably. no big deal–maybe a. day. or. 2–bond. and. notes are up-lower yield–ADP says. job report. not too. bad–90% chance. of a 1/4 pt rate cut—-so what’s the problem? -I may buy QID or SDOW for a short term scalp…but I must. admit. it is very difficult. for. me to imagine anything but the most. fleeting. of. downside. for. stocks…I’ll probably wait for. the announcement and. then. sell. the. knee jerk rally…

goldielocks @ 21:20 re Gasoline Miser Cars and Gas Prices Adjusted for inflation

Posted by Mr.Copper @ 12:21 on October 30, 2019

Hi, imo the inflation adjusted gasoline prices are way off. Everything s/b a factor of 15-20 from 1970. 1970 .36 cents/b today $5.40/gal. at least. Gas today at $2.50 divide by 15 put gas at .16 cents compared to .36 in 1970. Gasoline is half price today than 1970. In my opinion of course.

The gas miser people of decades ago was kind of a hobby thing in the 1960s. We had gas miser cars back then. My friends mother bought a new 1960 Ford Falcon. Tiny 6 cyl motor and a stick shift. It was GREAT on gas. We used to use it all the time at night and drive around with learner permits while his mom was sleeping.

I had other friends one with a Chevy Corvair, (allegedly unsafe at any speed) and friend with Ford Pinto, (allegedly will explode violently if read ended) early American gas miser cars. My friend with a 1965 Corvette V/8 motor used to get 20 mpg highway between Fla and NY.

I myself did not want to save save money of gas figuring I was lowering my living standard. In other words, if I can afford 12 miles per gallon at 18 year sold, I should STILL be able to afford 12 MPG at 28 years old. You have to get higher income to over ride higher costs, NOT use less and lower your personal standard.

The fake media bad mouthed, impropaganga on USA cars. Chevy P/U truck was advertised and artificially staged as blowing up with a broad side hit. Small imported unibody cars today when rear ended collapses the sheet metal and you can’t open the doors. Brother friend in a Toyota Corolla was rear ended and hit the car in front. He could not get out and had to be cut out. Sometimes they go on fire and people die inside.

Quote: Every time you try to save, you lose. Mr Copper circa 1967. The USA has lost. 🙂

PS Gasoline went up after 1970 because Dollar was de-pegged from Gold. Nobody including the Arabs, knew what the dollar was”worth” anymore so it dropped, inverted prices and rates higher 1970 to 1980. This is all simple crap. Forget embargo BS.

Beware of rising pm’s prior to a Fed announcement

Seen this movie a few times, although it could just be that pm’s go down 95% of the time after a Fed announcement anyway.

Almaden – AAU – Getting crushed on this news. Thank God I don’t own it anymore.

Almaden Minerals Ltd. (“Almaden” or the “Company”; TSX: AMM; NYSE American: AAU) was today notified by SEMARNAT, Mexico’s environmental authority, that the permitting process for the Ixtaca project has been suspended pending resolution of the mineral title lawsuit reported by the Company on September 10 and April 15, 2019 (the “Lawsuit”).

Under the Lawsuit, certain organisations have supported legal challenges against the Government of Mexico and the Mexican mineral title regime using the Company’s mineral claims as a basis for their challenges. The Lawsuit contends that the issuance of Almaden’s original mineral titles violated human rights and did not respect Mexico’s commitment to indigenous consultation under United Nations Instrument ILO 169.

ADP Employment Data Shows Manufacturing Jobs Disappearing

After plunging in May, ADP employment data bounced but has begun to rollover once again and while the trend appears to be weakness, thanks to downward revisions, the latest month was a modest pick up.

September ADP revised down from +135k to +93k and October ADP printed +125k (+110k exp).

Turkey ‘Double Whammy’: US House Recognizes Armenian Genocide, Approves Sanctions Over Syria Incursion

Late in the day Tuesday the US House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor of adopting a historic resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide. This, it should be noted, on the 96th anniversary of the founding of Turkey as a republic no less.

And in another major simultaneous “gift” to Turkey’s Erdogan — what headlines are already calling a “double whammy” — the House also voted overwhelmingly to approve a biting sanctions bill that if signed into law would crush Turkey’s economy and target Erdogan’s financial assets personally over his controversial military incursion into northern Syria.
