The rally comes as corporate results from bellwethers of the banking sector produced rosier-than-expected performance figures in the first three months of the year, kicking off an earnings season that has many Wall Street participants bracing for less-than-stellar reports from U.S. companies amid signs of an economic slowdown here and abroad.
However, JPMorgan & Co. JPM, -1.28% Chief Executive Jamie Dimon may have provided at least some added support to market sentiment, if his bank’s results didn’t already, with his comments on Friday about the state of the economy: “There’s no law that says it has to stop,” Dimon said about U.S. prosperity during a Friday call to discuss quarterly results with analysts.
“So you can just easily – it can go on for years,” he said.
Of course, the bank CEO said the unresolved trade dispute between the world’s largest economies — China and the U.S. — could pose a threat, but suggested that the current sanguine phase for the market — in its 10th year of a bull run — could continue for another decade.

Seems to me almost every silver producer and to a lesser extent gold producers have declining production. Not much point of expanding production when you are losing money or just breaking even on every oz.

In 1991, at the end of Desert Storm, a 19 yr. old US Army Cavalry Scout Private, who had just spent 8 months at war, sat out on a street at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia.
He sat there on his duffle bag with his Battalion around him for 4 days waiting for the buses to come and take him to the King Fahad Airport so he could go home.
Unfortunately, the politicians of the day never planned for how to bring so many soldiers home after the war ended so there was a shortage of planes. Politicians are great at talking, but terrible at doing.
Finally, the buses came, and took the young man to the airport. The planes waiting were from Tower Air. The owner of Tower Air had volunteered his planes and staff to bring soldiers home for the cost of fuel only. Happily, the young veteran got home just in time for Easter weekend in 1991, and spent that time emotionally healing with friends and family surrounding him.
