elders of that generation–and so much of our play was “war”–with toy soldiers, tanks, planes etc–I really enjoyed your comments–WW2 was the last gasp for electric trolleys and electric interurbans-in my town-Peoria, IL, the trolley stopped in October 1946–the interurban stopped in 1955-I remember the trolleys. My grandfather drove a pre-war car with running boards and a stater button on the floor.
